Any video reports out yet?
What sort of new bits are they offering? Thanks!
Instagram only so far.
Slingshot screwless foil to mast system !
They are out but not much info😑
Anyone got leads of any new lightweight wings good for waves?
V2 Dynamo, improvements on the Ozone Flow, etc?
Duotone showed one on the winglifepodcast instagram live today. At the end of the clip they show a prototype that’s supposed to be super light and just float behind you while you surf. Not out til March I think.
Have yet to see a Duotone wing that doesn’t oscillate back and forth on its floppy flag handle. But here’s to hoping they finally figured that out.
It’s too blurry to read
Adrian talked about the Fireball wings on “Foiled” podcast. Sounds like they jumped on the high camber bandwagon, they claim its for high performance down-winding. Should supposedly have good low end and still good glide. But oddly it sounds like it is still relatively thick foil section. Made out of the ultra-high modulus materials in the ultra mast. Also talked about what makes the foil turn well (sectional inertia about x-axis)
Excited to see how they compare to the other stuff out. The 1000 and 940 he mentioned seemed to have almost the exact same dims as the Code 770 and 680.
Wonder how long these have been in the works.
Gave AWSI a walkthrough today and snapped a few photos of things that caught my eye.
Stinger boards look exciting. Steve Legge, the owner, was very friendly and easy to talk to. I think they could make a big splash in the midlength game this year. You can customize their without an increase in price I believe? Custom colors, inserts, length, width, volume, no upcharges. $1850 includes the board with a bag and leash! This is our chance to get low volume midlengths with just a 6 week lead time.
I’ve been beyond stoked with the AFS stuff this year. The skinny mast is epic and coming out in new sizes and layups in the future. The enduros are going to be crowd favorites for sure.
I played with the slingshot system a bit and felt unsure. Obviously it could be all out of alignment from people playing with it on the beach but it seemed to shift/click when I was twisting on the front foil? The mast looks like the chord is super thick and the plastic locking mechanisms that I fiddled with all looked mildly smashed/damaged already. The smashed plastic appeared to be cutting the dyneema cord. They don’t plan to release until 2025 so they have time to work on it. If it’s released as is that looks like it will be a part that is replaced frequently.
I’ve never ridden Axis, but I am excited about the new UHA foils that are hitting the market.
Saw the KT stuff too. Didn’t chat with anyone but it looks beefy (3 m8 bolts at fuse to mast connection) and a very cool foil design. Hope to test them one day!
Looking forward to hearing about the Axis Fireballs. I wonder if they included the same or some level of camber on the ArtV2s. Wonder how it affects top end for winging.
All kinds of talk about Chamber music in that podcast.
they figured it out. I flew it.
Did ozone show any new wings?
They weren’t at AWSI but I have seen the new PPC M1X which is a lightweight version of the M1 didn’t get to ride it but it was much lighter than the M1 & felt balanced on the front handle(on land). Another that was not at AWSI was the Vayu Aura X v2. The Aura 2(what I have…) already drifts amazing off the front handle & the new Aluula version(X) should be exceptional. Last years Aura X already flags extremely well & front handle performance is a high priority on this wing…
Ooo thanks for the intel! Did they say when the M1X was going to be released? What were the main design changes to lighten the weight?
I’ve played on land with the Aura V2 and it feels like the bladders are a bit large… I think I’m spoiled by the Dynamo’s and will have a hard time finding something as pleasant-handling as those Five-Os…
and the dynamo v2s soon… can’t wait to try them.
