F4 + cedrus adapter strong enough?

I saw the adapter situation , does anyone have input on the f4 adapter for cedrus? Is it ok?

i would not use that.
Its not recommended at all.

Dylan is an f4 dealer so he might be a bit biased here. I don’t see any reason why the f4 adapter would not work just as well as any other cedrus adapter. That obviously comes with the normal caveat that no manufacturer has tested their foils with cedrus mast so there could be subtle angle differences or other interactions that might reduce the performance. It also comes with the f4 specific caveat that the current f4 masts are clearly much higher performance than the cedrus so you will undoubtedly lose some of the f4 magic people are raving about. Deciding on that tradeoff is up to the person spending their hard earned cash on foils

If by “adapter situation” you mean the description on Cedrus page for the F4 adapter mentioning that F4 cancelled peoples orders who intended on using their foils with a Cedrus, I would not worry about that at all. It’s weird and unnecessary that they did that in my opinion. The only scenario I would be cautioned against a third party adapter is if it was reverse engineered without designs sent directly from manufacturer which I dont know for F4 but the Unifoil adapter fits better with Unifoil wings than Unifoils own masts do.

It’s no different than using any other brand with Cedrus. Also note that Cedrus mentions that F4 uses 3 M6 bolts like F One which had sheering issues, again not Cedrus fault that the system is designed that way. They’re just stating the facts that M6 isn’t as strong as M8.

It will just ruin your experience with the foils.

I seriously doubt Cedrus will want their mast compared to F4’s mast. So I could see Cedrus being the one to cancel the orders.

Dylan actually spent a lot of his own time and money helping me troubleshoot compatibility issues when I was trying to get a Cedrus mast working with another foil. He shipped me multiple setups at his own expense trying to isolate the problem. I have a lot of respect for how he handled that, and his opinion on this carries a lot of weight with me.

F4 doesn’t recommend the adapter, and Dylan doesn’t recommend it either. If you’re buying into F4 because of the performance people are talking about, I’d personally just buy the F4 mast and avoid introducing another variable into the system.

not another Cedrus drama thread…

Of course the brands would rather have you buy their super expensive mast. The Cedrus will work just fine, don’t listen to the marketing. Its a $100 trial anyway to buy the adapter and borrow a foil

“It will just ruin your experience with the foils.” seems pretty hyperbolic.
