manera s-foam shape is a bit like a bowl. does not fit well.
I got one of these last year as it seems these guys design and make their helmets instead of just contracting it out. I have more of an oval shaped rather than round shaped head (think Sweet Protection if you are a skier) and the dial adjustment is nice too. Using a Manera for over a year now and the fit is good. Maybe my head is bowl shaped. Have to pull the strap tight and it conforms. Much more comfortable than hard shells. No neck protection though.
A friend just got the latest Mystic soft shell. Same non-newtonian foam as Manera with better build, adjustment and ear protection. I would buy that next time.

I wear a wetsuit hood then put the manera helmet on top. It seems overkill but makes me feel safe for neck and head protection. I wore the manera helmet without the hoodie yesterday and it did feel a bit like a bowl. Still worked fine tho. The ear protection is nice too

I do that in the colder months with the WIP as the dial adjustment can accommodate the added padding of the neoprene.
In the past year at our local spot in SF Bay, four guys took foil strikes to the face and neck area. One guy almost lost an eye and two had pretty serious facial/mouth lacerations or impact injury.
As a result some of us have mounted hockey face shields to our helmets to protect our face and neck. Gath is releasing a version of their Gedi helmet with a face guard for whitewater kayaking that should offer good protection. I have one on order. I have the Oakley WTR icon and love it. I had a Manera but once it warms up that thing is HOT! I got 2 sizes in the Oakley, one for winter over my hood and one when I don’t need the hood. Little annoying to put over the hood so I tend to risk it in the winter. Willing to sell my medium if you ever wanna go the Oakley route
