A dye dropper with a small tube running down the mast would a very cool visual aide.

Interesting…probably difficult to design an efficient wing with so much volume but there might be a happy zone that makes slow pumping like cruising a bike in terms of cardio.
That would be really cool.

Sail planes carry water as ballast in order to increase wing loading, allowing them to glide at higher speeds. They dump the water before landing to bring the speed down.

Downwind foiling, you could take-off without ballast and pump it on board while foiling.

That sounds great.

They also have [bug wipers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPyEDeD3Dxw), which made me think something similar could be useful for downwind racing in Aus where seaweed seems to be an issue

That could be really big for pump foiling, if you have a giant foil and you’re trying to go for a long time there’s a lot of opportunity to pickup grass.

Lots of racing sailboats have kelp cutters. Literally a blade that slides up and down the leading edge of the keel! The surfers would have a fit!

we would need two or three or those… I friend of mine did have the idea of running a really fine dyneema line from the nose of the board to the tip of the foil to cut or deflect grass.

Prone surf events should have floating pontoon docks to make things more fun. Half the hassle of a prone event is finding a wave that is surfable and chippable, the dock means you could have a much broader condition/wave criteria.

I’d just like to see a woo-like foil sensor with additional metrics similar seen in apps like woo and hoolan. Successful tacks and Gybes etc. But with user collected data (board, wing and stabilizer) was entered by that could analyze max speed, glide, stall speed. Could throw in pumps, wave riding metrics, efficiency, etc. Could also throw in some metrics for foil drivers etc.

The best thing about foiling is the random combinations that people come up with.

A mono wing double mast pump scooter was not on my list of commercial products for 2025

I’ve never used FoilDrive, so maybe there are reasons why this hasn’t been done, but someone who makes a FoilDrive integrated mast should add some lift inducing elements to the mast at the same height (or higher) than the prop/motor. Narrower than board width, but enough surface area to supplement the foil enough to induce earlier lift. Similar to the FD itself, once you are on foil this introductory lift element is out of the water and out of the way, so it doesn’t interfere with riding. Should probably allow a rider to use smaller foils as well. Since the FD is a tool to get onto foil, it may also allows you to downsize the power component (battery / motor) to make things lighter (don’t need as much speed/power if you have more lift).

Curious to see how they did it. I think it would need to be integrated into the mast to work well.

I can’t find it anymore. It was an adapter to mount an additional axis 1310 to the mast. An additional front also creates a lot more drag

Integrated mast/fuse. Not sure of many of these, maybe a few in kite/windsurf scene?

I wasn’t aware of Gong, Gofoil, Flitelab (and Flite?) all doing this

Here’s a truly ridiculous one - why is there no foil “saver” leash?

Connect a wire to a locked track nut, feed it through the baseplate through the mast and attach to the fuse, this way when your fuse screws or baseplate screws or tracks break, you have a better chance of saving your foil.
