How do we report a scammer in our midst? I posted recently and was direct messaged by someone sending me photos of gear from a listing which is on Facebook’s Foil Marketplace. ---

The Facebook listing is for gear located in Europe and “richard” told me the gear is in Wisconsin. ---

This guy has had enough Buy/Sell posts up here that SOMEONE should be able to vouch if he’s legit. As always, only pay using methods with remediation, use common sense, and give this guy a video call. ---

I contacted the seller on Facebook. He was quite amused to see his photos caught up in a scam. He confirmed that he’s located in UK, not Wisconsin, and has no affiliation with “Richard”. ---

I also had an experience with Richard, who’s selling an Axis PNG 1310. The original photos he posted made it look like the wing was in great condition. But when I asked him for a few more pictures, he sent me shots of a totally different 1310 that was all scraped up. Definitely seems shady and misleading. ---

Wow. This buy/sell forum is just riddled with scammers. And if you attempt to flag something as scammy they seem to then group up and attack you. 😢 ---

Agree, Jeffc62 is probably a scammer trying to pretend to be good guy. He been posting on many listing even on wtb or swap listing. Very weird. ---

From my past experience in forum administration, it’s generally one person with multiple accounts to try to appear legitimate. ---

Many of the scammers have private profiles. I wouldn’t buy anything from someone who doesn’t have a public profile showing they’ve been active on the site for quite a while. One way to prevent this might be to require a certain member level and account age before selling. ---

Just encountered another scammer. I replied to a post about a Naish wingfoil board from a longtime forum user. I then received a direct message from @Stevendye saying they’d ship it and asking for payment via Zelle at [ccashmoney8@gmail.com](mailto:ccashmoney8@gmail.com). I googled that email address and there are other posts for other forums describing the same scam. @Stevendye is a scammer, I’m certain. But to be clear, the original posts selling gear might be legitimate (the Naish definitely is - I just spoke to @SKLTN). I think the way @Stevendye operates is that he sees one of us respond to a post selling gear, then @Stevendye sends us a private message asking us to send payment via Zelle to [ccashmoney8@gmail.com](mailto:ccashmoney8@gmail.com). Google that gmail address and you’ll find a bunch of posts on other forums where the same thing seems to be happening. ---

I think that maybe the move is to just not reply in the thread for the posting and DM the seller. It’s a good way to get this type of scam and also keeps from spamming the whole community with the posting at the top of everyone’s feed.
