Excellent video, that pumping upwind with that much chop seems really technical, you really have to time the bumps
yes! That helps a lot. I also learned a lot from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpEHeq807w0&t=418s
He has so many great tips for pumping. Might not be prone, but i guess the technique scales up.
It mostly pertains to pumping larger wings for endurance but it’s a bunch of clean footage of my pumping and I talk about my choices, technique and gear. Might be useful to some.
Thank you for posting this, it was a fun listen. Congratulations on 10 minutes. I haven’t done that much dock start pump foiling, but it was really interesting to hear your take on not bothering to stay high on the mast. The entire first 7 minutes I kept thinking about how low you are on the mast. Then I saw it was on purpose. I’m honestly constantly working on riding as high on the mast as I possibly can. It seems like half the effort when I get it right.
Yeah, being high on the mast definitely helps, but it comes at a cost. I can pump around really high on the mast for a few minutes but the mental and physical drain of the added stability control will add up. When I’m lower on the mast I can just relax and pump and that ends up giving me more endurance in the long run.
It would be great to be able to have both relaxed pumping and being high on the mast (like Yvon) but it’s not so easy, especially on a 50 sqcm stab.
