BRM Maliko v1 with mods - Review

I’m curious how the Maliko V1 (with the bridle and bar upgrades) stacks up against other parawings currently on the market.

I’ve been riding the Maliko V1 4m since December 2024. I’ve also flown the Gong Neutra V2 and the F-One Quest, and honestly, I still think the Maliko holds up really well.

For those who might not know:

  • The Maliko V1 came out in September 2024
  • A bridle modification was released in November 2024, which noticeably improved the wing
  • After the V2 release (spring 2025), a bar modification was also shared

In my experience, that bar mod made a MASSIVE difference, especially in range and upwind ability. Like day and night. Suddenly, parawinging was not a struggle.

There aren’t many reviews or comparisons of the Maliko V1 with these upgrades. I guess most people moved on quickly to newer gear.

If anyone here has ridden the Maliko V1 with the mods, it would be great to hear your thoughts or comparisons. I think it could really help people who are getting into parawinging.

My take is that for the same budget, someone could pick up a used Maliko V1 + mods and a properly sized board, instead of spending it all on a brand-new wing and riding their undervolumed old board.

Curious to hear what others think—maybe I’m off, maybe not.

Really good for getting on foil , stowing, and especially with tiny boards. Love my 2,9, 4 and 6.2 with my 25L and 45L at 200+ lbs with winter gear

for upwind with a bigger board there are many better options

The Maliko V1 is still a favourite in our area and some of the better foilers are still using them. One even mentioned yesterday that he wondered if Greg would make new ones. Considering they were the the first para to actually work properly and still do it was an amazing development by Greg.

Mine all have modified yoke bars which almost eliminates leading edge tuck in until well overpowered with pack down and bridle length perfect.

oh shit! I didnt know that there was a mod to add a yoke. It make sense. Can you share the information ?

Regarding the Maliko v1 it’s pretty incredible that Greg got stuff right on his first model. Stuff that big compagnie still have wrong on their v2. He’s a master.

The line material and the attachement is perfect : Slick on the hand, not prone to tangling, no sewn loop with a big step that rip your hand. The canopy material is still the best in the game : super light and tough.
