Foiling with Bait Fish - Tips?

Over the past month, huge clouds of bait fish have taken over my local break - especially in the mornings when conditions are glassy and perfect. Pretty sure they are Pilchards. They are so thick that they literally knock you off your foil and make it impossible to turn or enjoy a wave.

Are there any tips to dealing with this or are we screwed until they move on? Curious if some kind of frequency would scare them away.

Never would have thought that the perfect swell, glassy mornings, and zero crowd sessions would be ruined by fish! Brutal.

Sharks and Seagulls seams to spook the baitfish best in my experience

I ran into this a few months ago, seemed like I’d hit em and the foil would be fouled and ride funny for a min or so after. It was brutal.

I actually hit a boonet head going through those pods last month. Was pretty spooky

That sucks! We have an abundance of 5-7lb carp that we crash into in the lake. Its like hitting a tree trunk. The lighter the wind, the bigger the foil, the more my fishstrike count goes up.

Well, hitting a sealion brings you to an abrupt stop. Neither of us was pleased.
