Foilquiver - A foil spec database / aggregation app

Hi foilers
Sharing my passion project which turned into a published web/ios/android app. https://app.foilquiver.com

I just got tired of keep looking up foil specs to decide which one to buy next, thought it would be cool to build an app that aggregates the foil specs across multiple brands.
You can browse by scrolling, search by any keywords (brand name, model name, even number match like area or wing span works).
Select a few foils and it will show the option to compare them in separate browser.
You can also search while in the comparison mode which will add the search results on top of what you are comparing.
Selected foils can be saved as a quiver (sign up required but free on all platform), and even be shared with other users.
There also sort, filter, and column visibility options. Can’t forget dark mode support too :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Just a passion project at the moment, will be cool to land a sponsorship or partnership one day but I’m just enjoying the process at the moment. (Please let me know if you have any possible lead or interest :folded_hands:)
Supporting Unifoil, Axis, Code, Armstrong, Lift, F1, KT, and Gong Galaxy just added now.
I think AK is next on the list. Of course I’ll have to keep it updated as new foils are released so please feel free to ping me if you want to see something get added quickly.
Any feedbacks on UI or future ideas would be appreciated as well. Cheers!

I checked it out - so helpful!! Thanks for putting it together.

It is really nice! Maybe you can monetize it with affiliate links, because it feels like a good tool for us to compare foils.

I’m sure you already now about it, but there was something similar: FoilingWorld Comparator
You seem to have more Gong stuff, I think having the most up to date data is the key, so keep up with it!

Look super good!

Anyway to make it open source? So we can help you upload more information

Super useful. Thank you

Great idea. I think even better way than open sourcing might be providing a form or api for users to submit the data. Right now the foil data is loaded as part of source code which makes adding new foils to be a whole new deployment for web/android/ios which always became a bit cumbersome

If I off load the foil data to an actual database and provide an api / form, then I can start adding new foils without the whole deployment process and open up the data submission to the community. Ill start implementing this!

One of the guys here made last year great Google sheet for Downwind boards :

Mabey can take some inspiration from there

Great job!

Wow thanks for the share! That’s an amazing sheet. Definitely starting to realize how much more data can be added. I already have been getting lots of feedbacks for more metrics like AoA, thickness, but this sheet really shows how much more can be demanded. I might give it a go to see how the board data like this can fit into the foilquiver app. Will report back!

That’s great, including thickness or volume would be key where available, as this seems to be a pretty big factor in glide too.

I’ve been using ms paint to combine screenshots of foil stats when buying, this would be a much better option!

@spark if you could do a questionnaire on your app to allow people to measure the mast lengths or do a survey or something as the variance is pretty crazy. I’d suggest board level to surface of leading edge, and ideally ask for pictures

Good suggestion, but couldn’t board to LE vary quite alot depending on foil mounted? Or is it to specifically know what mast length is with a given foil?

Foiling.world was mentioned earlier. Its greatest feature you should adopt is how it overlaps plan views for comparison.

Yes it does vary a lot, the issue is that brands list their masts with a size, and the fuses are 3-4cm so people aren’t clear on what they are buying relative to other brands,

Woah, that is what I’m dreaming of for sure. Great to see an implementation already out there. Maybe I should reach out to them and see if we can collaborate together.
Seems like they have some server stability issue which actually is my forte.

Introducing Foilquiver FREE Foil Spec Comparison App

just made a quick video to cover all features in the app. The worst performing video of my channel yet so please give it some boost if you got a second😂

I have been having more fun on video making than the app development lately but Ill get back to feature development and more brand support this Winter!

Nice work. Will be a great tool to further enable my addiction
A foil company to consider adding is: F4 Foils.

Nice app!

Is there a way to filter by columns? I see how to sort and filter by brands, etc but not a way to filter multiple columns. If this could be done by ranges (AR 9 to 10, span x to y, etc) it would be really helpful.
