Haha the last few comments some up my frustration with foiling… super happy on my spit fire when riding it… better than my last foil and have a lot of room to grow into it. Come home look at forums/social media and suddenly the devil on my shoulder says it’s not good enough and I now need A-Z of insert brand latest and greatest everyone is saying is the unicorn
Honestly very reminiscent of kites in kitesurfing. Every year the brands come out with the “new best kite” that purportedly shits on all previous designs. Cue the second hand market becoming flooded with all of previous years colors.
funny human dynamic this, probably the least obvious contributor of misinformation is the bias you describe
this is how patience is rewarded!
I’m only winging but recently got the Spitfire 840. I absolutely love it. Sold my HPS930 and ART899. I tried the SF960 and will probably get one for light wind to replace the 930. And get a 720 for nuking conditions. SF is best feeling foil I’ve ever ridden, great turning, fast, fun and playful. It’s relatively easy to get on foil for it’s size.

It’s not just foiling. It’s the natural result of our socio-economic system and advanced technology. Not great for the brain. But really fun ![]()
Dude, I’m exactly the same!
I wish I was more resilient to other people’s opinions, but it’s just that little seed of doubt… I thought the SP900 was so easy to pump until I started reading it wasn’t!
Have you tried the new Catalyst stab??
IT’S A GAME CHANGER!!! Yes, the FS Cloud IX Series are not that fast, but they can hold a carve and roll like no other I have tested yet (wanting to testdrive the new SILK, that looks RAD), and now, with the new Catalyst stab, gotta say the website statement that you can pump and glide the 700 just like the 850, carries a lot of true.
Pitch control is better, and carrying more speed is possible!
I once tested a big spitfire - I think it was a 960 of a friend - Not sure if it was poorly configured or what, but didn’t felt confortable at all - and it didn’t carry any glide vs a similar span wing from Cloud or AFS (The brands I’ve mostly tested)
Probably you want to check the new FUSELINK connection from AFS, looks pretty nice. I’m not ordering it yet unfortunately, budget is thight!
I finally had the chance to demo the 1100 Spitfire. I dw paddle sup mostly here in the Columbia River Gorge. Wow, what a game changer after having come off the 1300 and 1050. Is it the best in market (lol) I have no idea. What i can say is that when it blows 30knots and swells jack up chest to head high that foil shines. Handles down the line speed with ease, carves side to side effortlessly, pumps well to get to the next roller. I did find it harder to pop up and the touch is more nuanced. It serms to require a more suttle stance… more balanced approach. If you try to muscle it up it stalls. Overall, very pleased with the performance… a very carvy, natural feeling foil which allowed me to take session up to the next step.
