I imagine doing this for armstrong or many other brands can really highlight the shortcomings of a brands combined mast and connection flex.
Pretty chonker coming from my NLv2.. but on par with the axis ultra I suppose.
Thats awesome, where did you get the armstrong fuse made for the One ocean mast? How does the setup feel vs the Armstron 795PM ? Have you also maybe compared this to a Cedrus Evolution Surf HM mast?

I’ve been patiently waiting for the One Ocean 78SSS mast with the ultra-short titanium interface and long carbon fuse. First impressions are very positive — the machining, finish, and overall build quality look exceptional. Everything fits together beautifully. Looking forward to getting it on the water soon and seeing how it performs with the Axis Surge.

Which Axis fuse were you riding? I am on the Ultrashort Advance and am going to buy this same fuselage combo.
I’ve been riding the Ultrashort and Crazyshort Advance+ fuses for dockstarts, parawinging, and occasionally wingfoiling in light wind, mainly with the Fireball 1160 and 1350.
The M tail with the “Ultrashort” titanium fuse comes out at 58.5 cm and behaves very close to the original 60cm Crazyshort fuse.

Would love to have reviews one the SSS mast. How does it compare to axis ultra or the code + mast for example
I was on the Ultra Short advance 60 fuse, the length of the One Ocean configuration (US titanium bit + long tail section) is 60cm - so the longest One with US fuse is the same as silly short.
Pic below of Short & Ultra Short titanium bits, carbon tail sections come in S,M & L the L is what I have in the pic.

Not sure vs Axis Ultra, never tried that one. Faster, stiffer, looser than Code + though. I have multiple friends who ride the SSS and Code and love it. Recently a 230lbs rider in our crew picked it up and it loving it as well.

Anyone using a One Ocean mast with the Fireball 1750 for pump foiling? If so, how’s that going with stiffness/perceived flex and how many kg are you pumping around?

Absolutely not—don’t put a 1750 on a One mast, even the 78SS. IMHO the risk of breaking it is very real.
I tested the 78SS with the 1500. It works if your pumping is very clean, and it can handle small turns when you’re picking up a few bumps—but that’s about it.
For comparison, I also tried the 1500 with the 80 Fatty and Psycho Short Fatty, and the difference in stiffness is noticeable.
Riding the Fireball 1500 on the One 78SS probably gets you about 75% of the performance, but it’s a shame to miss out on the remaining 25% that you get from the added stiffness of the Fatty mast—especially considering how well the Fireball 1500 and 1750 perform.

Anyone have any up close photos of a code foil attached to the bottom? It’s my understanding that the adapter used for code is pretty streamlined but still would love to see and example.
I’m 70kg and the biggest foil I ride is a 980s which is very rare. 90% of the time I’m on a 740x or 720s. So I think the stiffness for someone my size and foil range would be more than good enough.
Just looking for some more efficiency and maneuverability from the big and bulky code masts
It is completely hidden so you won’t even know the adaptor is on, with the Code adaptor and lift adaptor they completely sit inside the socket with no extra drag at all.
For those size wings the SSS would be perfect

I have the KT Apex mast but for information, Jim Stringfellow can make custom fuselages.
Here an Axis to KT (so One Ocean to KT) fuselage.
This is an equivalent of the standard one (63 cm), a friend have the short one (56 cm).
He probably can make it for Armstrong and AFS…

Had my first go on the v2 78sss and it was everything I hoped it would be. Years ago when I first discussed the sss with Jacko he told me that my assumption the Florence 110x would be an awesome match for the 78sss was likely correct. Here we are, a few years later and I had the opportunity to do my first ride on the v2 with a buddies Florence 110x. Originally I described that foil as having “fun, slower, but super enjoyable longboard style turns.” With the 78sss v2 the upgrade was obvious. Snappy performance turns and tight radius carves were now available to me.

I purchased the new Vario 120 with Grubb 16 and Carve 20 tails to go with it. Monster wind forecasted for next week so I’ll get to push it hard but every one of my first impressions was positive.

Yeah Brian, sounds awesome. Hoping to try my 78sss soon. It’s been stuck in customs for almost a month. Super frustrating as the season is full go at this point!
