Purchase…from AXIS

I agree with this and the other things you said about wide front wings. I’d almost go for a super cheap 2nd hand red fuse and BSC front wing, which you could sell for probably very close to what you paid, JJBass469, then get some nice gear later.
This is fun, it’s like going through the foiling purchase journey with a bit of hindsight

Totally! And as much as it feels like Axis always has something new and you get that feeling of FOMO, it’s awesome to be experiencing the foil development that’s happening first hand.

Coming from sailboats, foiling is so inaccessible. A foiling Moth is $50k and takes 10 hours of work per 1 hour of sailing. A Nacra 17 isn’t quite so bad but you need a crew. The Waszp is cool but still $ and a lot of time. Wing foil is super cheap in comparison, and the development happens way faster. It’s so exciting.

Honestly the SF1180 feels like a dog with a reasonable sized progressive so you’d have to go really small to make it not suck.
If you want to make it easier than the skinny 55 then definitely get the 460v2, super stable and super easy rear wing, but a bit draggy.

Ah really? Actually, that makes sense, good call. I use a skinny with a PNG 1010 of all things, and that works pretty well. I find them a bit trickier with a smaller, higher aspect front wing.

it seams that OP want to go the SUP, downwind route … doing that on bsc 1060 might not be the best idea…downwind its already a v v v hard sport to learn. longest board and longest span foil are your best friends. u can find an png1300 v1 for $700 +/- (complete system,) on facebook marketplace/groups . perfect one to learn on and not that bad for learning to SUP on it either… once u figure it out you can sell the whole setup and move to black fuse with an art pro 1401, 1201 or SF 1180 depending on how u perform on 1300.

regarding tails, 375-400p might be better then 460flat , will make it faster to match the bumps speed. i wouldn’t recommend 460flat for anything then dockstart.

I found the 1180 to be a dog full stop. I couldn’t believe what the massive hype was all about after I bought one & tried it & still can’t understand the hype after I sold it a couple of months later for half it’s cost. I got a cheap 2nd hand 1300 v1 fully expecting it to be a pig & that thing is so graceful it just makes me smile so much. Horses for courses.
