They did do a refund. But, it happened on literally the 2nd ride. I flew to the United States to pick up and bring back down here to Mexico. So lots of my time and money to acquire this as well.
I know there isn’t much if not any negative reviews in wind sports as I am pretty new to it but people need to know this is happening. This is the only sporting industry I’ve been apart of where there is not honest reviews for anything. Most are given items from the companies. And if anyone says anything bad about a product it’s because they are trying to sell the new one. It seems like a revolving door of buy, buy, buy.
But the system does feel amazing. Best feeling foil I have ripped around on. The moment confidence went up is when this happened. When I really started the lay into the 360’s
I was on this forum before I bought it as a fly on the wall, for more info on it. Just giving you guys a heads up of my experience. Like you said this may be an early production issue, who knows.
No shade on them at all, but it’s for certain riders and they should make people aware of that.

yes i sent the mast back.
Most likely it was when it breached, correct. Because its when i started getting confident and really laying down into the turns. Usually when i do that 20-30% of the front wing will breach the whole 360.
Yeah, that’s totally fair. The “maybe” in my previous post was genuine. Good to hear some positives along with the negatives and especially glad to hear they took care of you on the product (but I understand the frustration at the loss of time)

I don’t think Slingshot should be held responsible for your choice to fly to the states to personally pick up gear (how on earth is this the most practical solution?).
Seems like a non issue if the manufacturer honored their warranty. I think there’s a balance … on one hand these are not huge enterprise businesses - on the other hand … it’s still a lot of money to spend on gear, regardless of your income level.
Because of tariffs and taxes made more sense to fly up and get it was cheaper. And in no way I am putting that on them.
But, yes there is a balance. I’ve broken many items from them and never posted. This one felt like I needed to that it was on my 2nd ride. If this happened a year or 2 down the road even, I probably wouldn’t have. Companies in this industry need to be held liable in these circumstances.
I’ll say it again this is one of the only industries on the planet with revolving door reviews. No negative, unless companies are trying to sell their new product. I think more honest reviews will do nothing but help this industry as it does for every other one out there. This is not me berating Slingshot as a company it’s just this singular product. If you compare it to any other industry on the planet the difference is clear in customer reviews, complaints, etc.

“know there isn’t much if not any negative reviews in wind sports as I am pretty new to it but people need to know this is happening. This is the only sporting industry I’ve been apart of where there is not honest reviews for anything.”
Ummm, there is plenty of complaining about products right here and honest reviews. This is a place for exactly that. Many early adopters here paying retail and breaking shit. I haven’t heard of any other screwless fails. I agree with TME that if Slingshot remedied this then its kinda lame that you are posting it up. No need to stir a pot thats not even boiling. Now go do your radical carving 3 on the new one and post up what happens. Friggin kitefoilers…
Exactly why I posted here and not all over Youtube. And I’m still getting berated by you. This is why people don’t post negative experiences with their gear ever on social media or even forums. For some reason a lot of people in this industry coddle multimillion dollar corporations and have the need to defend them like they are family, I truly will never get that. But, when I come forward with a major issue that happened on my 2nd ride; on a forum with not many viewers(for that reason), I still get struck down by people like you.
I’m not saying nobody should get the OneLock. Again best feeling foil I’ve been on. But, when confidence went up so does my riding force. Not many people ride really hard. This post is for those. The commercials geared towards that riding, are just not right in my opinion.

Google is saying they are like $4M with 65 employees - I mean no disrespect to Slingshot, but this isn’t Saudi-Arabian oil money revenues we are talking about here.
I don’t think anyone bristles at the idea of sharing your experience - it’s just a bit odd to have to coax out that they honored the warranty. (e.g. the “United Breaks Guitars” video came out after 9 months of getting nowhere on the claim). I’m not sure the “my product broke, and the manufacturer sent me a new one” would go quite as viral.
On one hand - an honored warranty is not exactly pain free. It’s a pain, could eat into a vacation experience, etc … on the other hand it could be growing pains of a new approach. It’s a bummer you had that happen!

I am glad you posted. I don’t think we need to be secretive about this stuff. We need the brands to take it seriously that we care about durable gear, and we care about warranty.
I have broken my share of gear and I have always given the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt that they are still tuning the process. As long as they take care of me and get me something that works, I’ve got some patience. I have a few examples now of getting really early into a new product line, having it break, then getting it replaced with something that hasn’t failed me.
Even so, it really sucks to break gear. I’m in a position where I sell my old gear to fund new gear. So when something breaks, I’m out of the water until I get it sorted. I for one would really rather pick a brand that I can have confidence in.
