Traveling for tow in trips. Hate idea of buying/bringing multitude of front foils to match conditions. Still trying to figure out tuning of my set up. I weigh 80 kg, intermediate skill set. Purchased an Armstrong MA MK2 690. Looks like reviews on-line showing 590 and smaller for head high waves with energy. To avoid buying smaller sizes, especially as I’m building my skill set, how beneficial would it be to shim my mast bow side up, or dropping size of my stabilizer if feeling overpowered?
It’s all about speed. Low power wave like Chicama vs. high power North Shore etc. Towing removes the need to pump back out. No amount of shimming or changing of tails is going to make one foil work for dramatically different conditions. The other issue is mast length. Head high plus and you’re going to need some mast length. I’d bring two fronts and two tails closely matched, more from a standpoint of fine tuning and option if one breaks.
