Hey, I was reading that older post about B.A.R.G. factor the other day and wanted to check it out again, but it’s gone. Anyone know why or how to get at that info again?
Thanks for the help!
Man I wish that last thread hadn’t got deleted. There was a lot of people posting BARG factors for their boards.
I’m curious how well this works for prone using the BAR*GF formula. If if it holds for prone, are there any guidelines for certain values (like BARG 5+ is DW SUP capable)?
I believe there is some similar discussion in seabreeze forums with examples.
I mainly visited this forum to see the latest drama from and around the Cedrus guy. That thread is missing sadly and suspect Bwalnut has been removed from the forum and his threads (including Barg). From all the reading I thought Bwalnut was insightfully replying to peoples input. I dont think you can complain that he was posting too much on the topic when everyone would ask him to stop but also
open up a can of worms with questions challenging the credibility of his findings, which he happily could defend.
So if you get banned it removes all your posts?
Yeah ive come to that conclusion, at least in this case.
Edit: I now understand that Bwalnut decided to remove his account himself to stop the cycle. Sad to see him go. Sorry for the incorrect speculation.
Calculate your board aspect ratio by simply dividing length by width. (BAR)
Calculate your guild factor which is calculated by taking your boards liters, and dividing it by your weight in kilograms. (GF)
Next, multiply your BAR*GF to get your BARG Factor.
Wouzel have some post about it on his blog where he comment and compare his old boards based on BARGF factor.
Its an other metric to compare board. Its not perfect but its another tool in the toolbox.
so I took his math and made a calculator, easy to use and more visual
Love this, thanks for the assist! So easy to use and manipulate measurements when planning out custom dims. ![]()
Only tweak is you have it listed on your page as Glide Factor and its actually Guild Factor. John Guild is the surfer credited with originally spreading the idea of liters vs kilos for surfboards and it became known as Guild Factor.
Fixed Guild, Thank You for that
