I have been wing foiling for 3 years now, and i am looking to get into downwind foiling. I am 120 lb or 54 kilos. I was wondering if you guys have any input on foil sizes. i was looking at a 750 or 650 but i am now wondering if that is too small. i have a north sonar HA850 on my wing foil setup.
No one will really be able to tell you what you need to be on, it’s going to depend heaps on the conditions your going to ride and your skill level. If you have been doing a lot of DW wing runs flagging out your wing and can read bumps vs if your starting at zero with everything other than being able to get on foil with a wing. If you planning on paddling up or parawing lots of variables. Ocean, bay, Lake, River?
If your paddling and have no paddle experience then you will need a big foil.
If you’re going to parawing then you can go with a smaller foil.
If you can I would talk to someone local and find out with they are riding then based that feed back you should be able to narrow it down.
Hope that helps somewhat
okay, thank you. I am the only one in on my island besides my dad that wing foils/ sups.
We have decent 4-5 foot wind swell, but i do not have much paddle experience
Foilgreatlakes got it right, depends on experience. I’d say do the DW run with a wing or p-wing. at 120lbs you could ride a HA500
alright, i was thinking the same thing, thanks for the input.
