Thank you for the report. A couple of follow up questions. For sizing purposes, what’s your height and weight (waist and chest size)? Would you wear this in Hawaii (water temp of 81 degrees)? Is it really absorbent, so that it weighs a lot when it’s wet? Safe foiling.
Sizing: I went by the sizing on the manufacturer site
170cm
68kg
Chest 95-97cm/37_37.5
Waist 84cm/34.5
Hip 93cm/36
It’s neither hot not cold.
It’s like bareskin but with expected sun protection, how much I don’t know. I wore similar socks for 2 weeks 6h/day, X2 weeks, foiling in Colombia and feet didn’t tan/burn.
It’s Dyneema & Lycra mix. So it mostly doesn’t absorb water. I wore it for 4h under my 6mm suit, so can’t really tell as it came out mostly dry. I don’t expect it to absorb/weight much when wet.
From their site, for my size.
They have a calculator.
Small is slim fit, I didn’t want it to ride up when using without wetsuit. I bought small.
Medium is regular fit
Large is loose fit

Shit! Nevin is an old friend of mine
Last time I saw him he was telling me the story of the gnarly scar on his forehead from another kiting accident where he nearly died… Glad he’s okay
Yeah, I was a hard-core wave kiter for about 10 years. The last time I had a kite in my hands, it scared the shit out of me. All the power and that crazy input delay… Foiling has absolutely nothing on kiting!
“Whilst a shark’s teeth are much bigger than that of a human, the average bite force per tooth of a 6.5 metre (21 ft) Great White Shark is only 410 newtons. It took an average of 900 newtons to penetrate Shark Stop’s Bite-Resistant wetsuits during Shark Stop fabric testing.”
nice bud…
if you were to surf in warm conditions… would u use the suit just as, maybe some boardshorts on top, or some kind of undergarment under ( since u mentioned private parts would show)
do you feel this is better for protection compared to a 2mm wetsuit ?
would u suggest using an impact vest alongside it ?
i found this online as well - Nice Extreme Snijvast Shorttrack schaatspak - Nicesports
seems slightly cheaper, not sure how thick it is… seems like dyneema as well… i have reached out to them for more details
My intention was to use it on my next warm vacation, whether it’s enough UV protection I don’t know.
I would wear a bathing suit on top.
It’s WAY better protection than neoprene which you can easily cut through, a sharp knife won’t even cut through this.
Psychologically I’ve been riding more aggressively since I have this, and I won’t be need to dull the trailing edges of my future foils& stabs.
Downside is taking off the 6mm suit in 30 knots and 8C , this suit feels so cold , until you take it off.
Another downside is the material is a rougher than Lycra so can be slightly irritating on sensitive skin in area of high friction (eg harness).
Otherwise now that I have this, it’s a no brainer. Why didn’t I think of it earlier is the question.
I’ve sawn 2 straps (thin reusable shopping bag handle) at the bottom of the legs to hold it down while putting my 6mm suit on, works great.
I think which ever suit is available to you locally is best. This is $300 Canadian, which is 200 Euros.
thanks buddy… il call for one soon and see how it goes… appreciate all your input
Let us know your thoughts too!
The cut resistance of the speed skating suit is interesting, but does it have much “stab” resistance. My biggest fear is the wing tips piercing my abdomen in a bad taco. Especially since that region is generally not covered at all by impact vests, or the vest could slide up.
The shark suit seems more gimmicky and i think there is a lot of snake oil in that field designed to prey on the fear of sharks. I’m curious what size range of sharks is responsible for most attacks. I don’t think cut resistance will help you much if a giant shark attacks you.
Just checked and it doesn’t go through using 2 pointy Gong stab tips (they are pointier than the foil tips).
I used my socks which is very similar material.
Tested also against 2mm neoprene, and the neoprene started to give but didn’t go thought.
got stabbed by my stab… gonna wear a helmet I think, minor, but worrying
Ripping!
Got away lucky on that one.

good to see this developing…look forward to a hooded version
