The wera stainless hex key is NICE and very well rustproof. Nice key to have in a pocket.
The one Omen gives you is a full size tool so I can’t fit it in my pocket. Those Wera tools are nice though.
Unfortunately it feels like there is no going back from the base plate, but these could be much more hydrodynamic. Some, like Lift or Slingshot are quite streamlined, and others are super chunky. It could be as simple as a very light plate-surround that mounts around the perimeter of the base plate.
I’m on one of the more streamlined base plates and honestly I wish it was bigger and chunkier. Much more worried about the stiffness and board integrity in that area than hydrodynamics. More area on the plate is needed, especially considering most boards are chronically under engineered where the foil attaches. Pretty jealous of that massive Code base plate!
Tuttle
Pros: Streamlined, packs flat, potentially lighter, potentially stiffer
Cons: lack of front/back adjustability. Lack of mast-angle adjustability w baseplate shims. The board must be thick enough for the connection (no thin pump boards, skimboards, etc)
I have one board with a tuttle connection, and one board w tuttle + tracks.
I prefer tracks.
Agree, this tool is completely ruined by the bottle opener, so stupid. If anyone knows whoever is making them, ask them to stop (cnc so no cost?). Ruins an otherwise useful tool
