ordered a 740 with xs123.
Some notes i’ve gathered over fone people
Sushi (740). wingspan75.5cm, AR 7.7
Has more lift, close to the sized up sk8. (example, lift of 740 sushi is similar to 850sk8)
Has more low end than a sk8,doesn’t travel as fast…uses energy from wave
Smooth and easy to turn, slightly narrower wingtips.
more roll than sk8 due to the shortness in span
So personally, I have noticed in my waves here in socal, periods shorter than 14sec swells what Julian says, that the sk8 kinda projects outwards quickly is very true, and if i dont setup my bottom turn or inital turn I end up too wide or going too fast and only do a cutback, so my lines look look like this.

Where is my sushi roll? They said end of june 
Seems like there’s a strong convergence in outline and dimensions on surf foils, does anyone know if the same is happening in sections and camber/rocker? I’m starting to feel we are reaching commoditization of surf foils (if that’s how you say it in english). Many brands offering really similar designs where there are no huge differentiating factors.

I’m still waiting for it to arrive…I’m kinda bummed because I want it during our swell right now in socal, I’m afraid when it does arrive end of month it will be 1-2ft
Got to try the Sushi 740, sk8 750 and eagle 790 yesterday. The sushi does exactly what is says on the box, turns in the pocket, control is insane and i had the C123 tail on, glide is very impressive as well, you don’t need to maintain as much speed like the sk8 but i was on the 750. Now I’m even more confused as they are all so damm good !!

I got two sessions in!
two different setups, not sure exactly how i feel about it.
Day1 : 740 + CARVING 123 XS
Smaller day and lots of backwash, low-medium tide but lots of churning water.
Day2: 740 +carving 130xs(old stab)
Bigger day, peaker waves, more consistent. also more walled out.
It definately feels like less front leg pressure is required. I found myself able to control more in the pocket, less speed, alittle more predictable. I wasn’t launching to the shoulder as much. I feel like I could go smaller, but I’m just not sure yet because there were many moments where I think i hit backwash or something and I’d suddenly lose all my speed.
I found myself more often doing rookie mistakes, like getting suddenly ejected and not used to the lower end glide, which I’m used to pumping on, so my timing got abit off exiting my inital wave to pump back out. I agree with you @Wingmanwa , I found the speed required is much less but I was fighting alot of water current so I’m not sure if I had the best examples.
I did find myself going for more radical, close to the peak entries as I pumped back out. It felt very stable. I didn’t get a great deal of opportunity to catch many on day 1 so the tail swap was mostly for curiosity. I will switch it back to the xs123 again to try it.
I did notice the xs123 is about the same wingspan, though a much smaller chord. Overall I’m so far happy with my purchase, I do wonder if I can go down a size to the 680 as I normally prone a 750sk8.

Quick note i’m on the 740 sushi and the xs123.
The foil is definitely backfoot oriented. I’m still struggling to find the balance point on the takeoff sometimes, because it feels so different from the sk8 where all your pressure is on the front foot to keep it down.This wing has a significant amount more backfoot pressure that really does feel like youre surfing.
I found myself relying on muscle memory of moving like I was surfing though it feels very locked in, like a thruster but with extra grip…not sure i still think I could go smaller to the 680 but I want to give it a few more weeks.
The pumping does feel more labor intensive but its not super difficult, just abit more energy required.
I will say it really does feel like you can leave it in the pocket.As the foil is responsive and the back foot leaning really?Does give it like a surf-)ike drive feel

After another month, what are your thoughts on 740 vs 680? Trying to decide between the 2
Ok so they advertise better low end…im not too sure. It does turn noticeably better than a skate, and the slightly backfoot feeling does give it a surflike feel. (Carving xs123)
But I think I feel like I could go to a smaller size most of the time (60% of the time). Im getting 2 for 1s, but now…its more surflike, you will tire out from the agility of turning instead of pumping.
So once again id argue its harder to connect waves because you’returning alot more(personal experiance) and gliding the lip.
The pumping feels like my 850 sk8 - they are right about that. My daily driver was the 750 sk8.
Id rather give up pumping for the ease of turning. Ill get the 680 eventually.
