Hello! I am a 63kg intermediate kite foiler (gybes, tacks) hoping to get more into winging. I have only winged a few times, but think my front wing I have is too big for me- AK trek 2000cm (+140l AK Phazer). I can get up on plane easily, but get bucked pretty quickly. I also feel the drag on my arms- but maybe that’s just because I’m new ![]()
My local shop has some Unifoil demoes on sale, so wondering if I should pick up a setup (and maybe 2nd front wing for light winds down the road).
What would you recommend for someone who will hopefully catch on quickly? I hope to kite foil until 20 knots, then switch over to winging when it gets bigger than that. Would eventually like to get into sub 20 knot winging (my parents winter in the Tampa area, and winds are lighter there), but imagine 20-25 knots will be my typical wind for now (flat water/between pierheads, and OBX sound side)
Is the progression a good mid-aspect wing? If so, what size (s)? I really appreciate a slower stall speed for learning gybes and tacks. But would appreciate more glide if possible- to sustain lulls and my arms ![]()
Thank you!
(Additionally, I have 5/4/3m wings)
