Foiling is ruining my surfing

Another one bites the dust.

Haha no way. Im addicted to foiling but trying to decdie which todo first was giving me paralysis of analysis and bumming me out. Like I said it prob wont change how often I actually go foiling but will just settle my mind on order of hierarchy. Now when I get much better at foiling and can do multiple waves on a simple chip in than I think there might be some reshuffling

When it’s glassy and uncrowded surf. When it’s over chest high surf. When it’s windy foil. IE: learn a wind sport.

Haha glassy, occ head high, relatively uncroweded… def surf was the call

Been surfing a fair bit lately as the foiling conditions haven’t been very good for a while. Yesterday swell picked up and so did the crowd. First two waves and 2 no look drop ins. Paddled in and got foil board, staying inside and having a blast. It’s nice to be able to do both!

Since this will be my first winter as a foiler Im going to bekeeping an eye out for possible foil spots up here in sb. I was looking just west of upper rincon parking lot and thinking that area could be a good tow boogie zone or possibly chip in spot as sometimes it kinda breaks and backs off. Im surprised I havent seen any prone foiler out at some of the non deacript points around here other than just down at mondos. Ive tried a few spots here and there with some worthwhile success.

Kelp is going to be your enemy up in SB, tons of great setups ruined by the stuff.

Yes true. Altho Ive kinda accepted that and have made a decent go of it in some kelp spots . I catch a chip in and attempt to stay high on foil and have better than 60% chance of not getting snagges. Also go when its high tide. Beats driving all the way down to mondos.

All the SB foilers have realized, why mess around with surfers on a half mile long pointbreak when they could go outside to a 10 mile long pointbreak and DW nearly every day.

I really like the idea of just surfing/foiling in one spot. Being able to pump back out would be huge for me but just not quite there yet. DW looks pretty intimidating right now. When Im a bit better and can really pump Im def gonna give that a go. I already have a dw board but want to firat use it for sup (still need to get used to standing on it). I guess its just gonna take time.

But I dont think all the sb foiler have sussed out all the foiling spots around here. I think alot are hesitant to try new spos cus Ive been having worthwhile outings. If only I could pump better!
