I’m a fan of goof off. I used it to replace the foam on my jet ski, the adhesive was baked on pretty aggressively and with a decent bit of that and a putty knife I got it off without too much fuss.
Goof Off is very underrated. It makes Goo Gone seem like water.
Washout… GoodOff doesn’t even touch it. I’ve tried ;-( Also tried their GlueGone varient, specifically for glue removal. Nope.
Heat gun works for me
Hi. I have replaced the deck pad on my Sunova. I used a hair dryer on warm setting to soften the old glue which helped a lot in removing the old pad and most of the glue. I used a bit of isopropyl to then clean the remaining glue off the deck. No issues at all with existing deck paint or finish.
I purchased a new pad off AliExpress which came up pretty nice.
Great job, man! Tell me… what exact isopropyl product did you use? If you remember… ![]()
what did you sand it with? One of those small mouse things?
Just standard Isopropyl Alcohol you buy from the local hardware store. Nothing special ![]()
Yeah just a simple sanding block and higher grit sand paper (150/220) to minimize the scratching of the actual deck. You could also try Scotchbrite pads, they generally get gummed up pretty quick but they will remove the last bit of adhesive pretty well.
You can get quite a few supplies from your local paint shop: plastic scrapers / squeegees, cheap sponge sanding blocks.
