I’m curious why the trench is open at the back if you’re not sliding the foil drive unit out. I agree with the thinking that it’s quick enough to unbolt and remove the foil drive unit when you change the battery. Surely you lose volume at the back? Or do you not want any volume at the back?
There is a video by Piros that talks about the trench boards. They offered little benefit when the trench did not go all the way out the back. The closed back made drag. The magic moment for trench boards, was when the back was left open. I think he credited Appletree for this discovery.
Thanks very much, that makes a lot of sense. I suspect it may also help clear any air and get it away from the prop faster, sort of like a venturi.
Hey Josh,
I noticed in the Foil Drive Podcast episode 20…behind Paul Martin, there was a F-One mast with the built in Foil Drive.
It made me wonder if the people at Code Foils are thinking about doing a Foil Drive integrated mast also…'cause i’d be a buyer for sure!
BTW, love the stuff you post on YouTube, etc. Thanks for sharing.
burt
edit: looked again at the video…probably just hopeium thinking that’s an integrated mast
yes so there is gonna be the best integrated mast from code coming , with james casey and i prototyping them wont be anything short of amazing
Thanks brother! Can’t wait!!!
Looking forward to seeing Ben Tardrew in the promo video for the new FD Ultra fast Code integrated mast. Rumour has it he has never used an FD?? Is this still true?
Hey Josh, what’s the deal with the split bolts you use for the FD - are they available to the public?
Just heard back from FD, a couple more weeks!
