KT Atlas 960 vs Code 960 vs Armstrong DPW 930

In terms of low end-stall speed and top end. Easy of use?
Have you ever tried?

I have the KT 960. I’ve demod the Armstrong 930, and have not ridden the code 960, but regularly ride with people who are on the code 960.

The KT is dramatically slower than the other 2. It’s not in the same playing field. The KT 960 should probably be compared to others in the 1100 to 1300 range. The KT excels in turn ability compared to other 1100-1300 foils.

The KT is slow. I use it for days where it’s 10-12 knots of wind for downwinding. Can pop it up in nothing. I also use it to paddle up on boat wakes when there’s no wind.

For downwinding the KT960 wil struggle to match the speed of most real waves.

The KT 870 or 680 is more in line with the army or code 900’s.

KT does say to size down 2 foil sizes with their foils.

Thank you,
What’s your weight?
KT 960 should be compared with Code 1075? Or 1250? And Armstrong 1180 or apf1350?

I’m 160 Lbs. The code 1075 will be faster down winding in the same conditions, by a pretty decent margin. The code will also require less work in light conditions due to much better glide. The KT will be easier to pop up, will crank out better turns and be more surfy, arguably more fun. But, if your down winding in a group you won’t be able to keep up with coders.

Awesome. Thank you

This is pretty spot on. The code 960 is fast, I have done a 1:58 km on it. But also can go pretty slow efficiently, into the mid 3:00 kms. The army is probably just as fast but not super user friendly. The pitch stability is more sensitive. The KT is basically a 1100 in everything but surfyness.

Yea from trying out both,
960 is 1075R lift, slower with much better turning
790 is 860R lift, slower with much better turning
haven’t tried 680 myself but i expect the trend to continue similarly. ~ 770R. Maybe the differences start to get smaller as wings get smaller, idk.

I am looking for a foil that will work well for terrible conditions. South Florida 6 to 12 m.ph. On a FoilDrive so get up is not an issue. I am currently using an Eagle x 900 and pumping a majority of the time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

If you really want to dw in terrible conditions it has to be the 1250r! It is the most efficient big wing out there. I have done lots of dw in Fort Lauderdale in 10 knots with it!

While I agree that the 1250R is a very efficient wing it is also very fast for it’s size. In really bad conditions I think you will have more fun on a wing that can go slower.

I use the KT Atlas 1340 to dockstart downwind 15 cm bumps and highly recommend it to make the best out of small conditions. It’s also my goto wing for parawinging until the bumps start moving faster.
