Looking at the numbers for KT masts, I’d say your 95cm mast’s value is likely around +1. The Value for the Nomad 830 is -.5, which puts you at a +.5 shim for your setup. Tried that?
My experience: I own the 790, 960 and recently got the 1130 Atlas used with a 80cm Cedrus surf (85 w/ adaptor, so = +.5) I’ve found Kane’s numbers to be a really good starting point to a balanced system which can then be tweaked to your use case, taste and in my opinion weight if its significantly outside the 80kg ish norm. I’m 95kg and have always liked a bit more shim for added front foot pressure on all brands… have found that KT’s recs then -.5 feels really good to me.

I tried this from the start but I may have had my mast in the wrong position (too far forward) and was using a baseplate shim (too many variables) and wrongly assumed I needed more tail shim. I likely went to an extreme in subsequent tuning configurations which destabilized the set up and need to go back to the recommended shim with the mast a bit farther back and iterate from a simple starting point (no baseplate shim, less turbulent water, no shorebreak so I can easily swap).

I sorted it out. The 0.5 shim worked well. Board no longer drops when I lift my rear foot (gybes, pumping, etc). Overall rides much better. Need to do some additional fine tuning, but have a stable baseline to work from.
