No such thing as a ridiculous idea

Hear me out!

2 parawings. 1 bar! Put the one you’re not using in your fanny pack thing. Use the one that’s correct for the wind you’re in. When the wind really drops, put them both out at once! DOUBLE THE PARAWING!

i’ve seen a foil kite design online that unzips near the middle to allow for two sizes in one. add a bar with internal retracting lines to account for the larger parawing bridles…

Build in progress, calling it the Tow Buddy, like a community foil launcher for towing up foilers in big surf out at the back, range limited by the anchor, so it’s just a whip onto foil

Get rid of the anchor. Tow up, circle out the back, ride towards your friend, whip in, throw remote to friend. While you are riding he’s towing up and towing towards your 3rd friend. Throws the remote to him.

Guys do it all the time out here. Someone’s always manning the boogie outside the lineup this way.

Has anyone tried an FD/parawing combo yet?

Use FD and prone board to get up and out to the bumps, stow controller once cruising bumps, deploy parawing as needed. Ride forever with battery backup to get back in if needed.

Definite concern about the prop tangling/cutting the PW lines and also stowing the FD controller… but this seems like it could be a doable option to get into PW without needing to invest in a DW board.

I tried very briefly in poor conditions when I was first learning to PW. It was too intimidating dealing with the controller and worrying about the prop and wind was too light. Wish I had the 12cm motor to make it more worthwhile

hmmm…

What length motor were you riding?

I have the 15cm and it works decent for pure FD DW.
12cm would be nice but I am not on the latest interchangeable stator model…

20cm. it works for DW but far from ideal

Just loop the cable in a u shape along the side of the mast to shorten it. Tape it up tight.

Foilcopter

the original?

Pretty cool self stabilising efoil, watch to the end where it can’t handle going downwind.

I guess just stab adjustmaent based on this picture

Another wild idea.

A standard squash tail prone board that has a bit that attaches to the deck on the nose and a piece that attaches to the back to transform into a midlength for DW and winging..

For SUP boards put the leash plug on the nose so that when it’s getting dragged by a wave the water flows over in the natural direction

Not sure which is more noodly, the ski or the mast

These look pretty cool for pure surf.
I imagine we would take a bit of a hit on total weight though, possibly more important for a foil board than a traditional surfboard…
Granted, I’m nowhere near the level of surfing where I could speak to that with any authority.

I’d like the reverse - an extra float for launching a smaller board that is removable once I’m flying

Split foil, detachable tips from KETOS FOIL. Seems somewhat reasonable.

from the video, it looks squirrelly as hell in a turn. I could imagine that stiffness is the hardest part to solve with something like this. This particular product isn’t for me, but I applaud the progressive thinking and going so far as to prototype it.
