No such thing as a ridiculous idea

What about this fold in half board?

Yup. I fully endorse this

Building a high volume sinker shape. Looks wild! Optimised for maximum volume and minimum thickness.

Every time I see these body surfers doing the dolphin thing, I think of a foil attached to stomach + a underwater jetpack

Starboard have this concept for few years now , very skinny standing area , when volume is pushed to the rails ,

But , Guy’s board with the asymmetrical shape can be interesting to try in the water

So what are they trying to make other than an rc foiler? Proof of concept for a real foil tow setup?

It’s mostly RC content on the channel, so I expect RC is what they have in mind.

The hollow wood mid-length.

This probably is a ridiculous idea, at least the way I have made it.

Wood is nicer to work with than foam but weight is important and I will do well to get this under 8.5kg for 6’2 x 20 x about 100 litres.

Rough shaping is done, sanding and glassing next.

I made a cnc cut stitch and glue 6’x 18” 90L downwind board out of Okume plywood came out at 17lbs glassed.

What is it like to ride?

Turns out the Army part of the racing foil is a sacrificial tip

Which reminds me: can someone make a foil where the fuse is the lowest point? I keep destroying foils on rocks, and it’s always the main breach section about 2/3 down the span. Worst place to have the low point

Some of my foils have dihedral so the fuse is lower than the wing. I don’t think it helps with dings though

Or a set of curb (reef) feelers.

I think the only thing really going for them is ease of manufacturing.

someone has to try it now

I think I read somewhere that these don’t work in water? Considered it for something recently, I can’t remember what.
