I just got the 70L version and have 2 sessions on it winging (Code 720S, KT Atlas 680). I’m about 85 kilos.
Overall I like it (shape, deck pad, love the handle, take off in light wind is good). Downside is that it’s heavy in my opinion. Not a deal breaker but if it were light, it would check most/all boxes and my rating would move from good+ to solid great. Likely would be not only easier to carry but also further improve performance… unless the weight was intentional for momentum and stability(?) In my experience light always feels better when riding… although durability is big considerations. Trade-offs.
I have the 82ltr for parawing, I’m 81kgs. Brilliant board, easier to use than my downwind board when the wind gets strong and gets going in almost as light wind.
Yes it is slightly heavier than other brands similar offerings, but no deal breaker. North have always been risk averse regarding warranties, always seem to rather strength over ultimate lightness. It’s one of the few full PVC wrapped boards available thus great impact resistance, so many lightweight carbon skin boards out there with multiple repairs due to cracks in the skin.
Funny that you mention the point about impact resistance. I have a couple of dings in my carbon skin board so I’m glad to have the North board in my quiver while I fix the other one.
The other board I was considering before buying the North Midi was the SIC Ka’a Pro Mid Length but it looks like the handle only comes with 80 liters and bigger. Similar shape, not sure about weight diff (I need to weigh my North to compare): https://sicmaui.com/us_sic_en/ka-a-pro-5-8-rigid-composite-112912
