Hi there,
I’m considering buying the Mode Ultra Wing 4.2 because it appears to be strong and durable.
Has anyone used it for a while? Does the wing maintain its shape over time? Any quality concerns?
Thanks in advance!

Not quite Ultra, but I’ve had the original Mode 5.5m for about 1.5 years now and it’s still awesome, even after two big repairs (canopy and LE). I have smaller wings but if I’m not sure about conditions I know this wing works from 10-30 kts with awesome upwind and stability. That said, it gives up maneuverability and “light feeling” compared to other wings, e.g. you have to guide it around a tack with your back hand rather than just pulling it through with your front hand.
I haven’t
but catched my eyes you’re looking for durability and a lasting shape of the wing over time -
I was just talking to a friend yesterday about my PPC M1 (1st gen) and how it has kept it’s shape and canopy still feels stiff and not flapping. I think the main reason for this is having such a rigid frame, it does makes the ride gruntier and it’s good enough for flaggin while surfing but not a top surfer - but improves durability a keeps the good feeling in the hands for longer time -
I guess the new M1-L and M1-X are intended to make the wing more surfy and softer and retaining that durability with the DYNEEMA high pressure resistant frame -
So I think you should look for a dyneema wing if you’re looking for long lasting shapes.
I don’t see this effect not even in the aluula wings - Dynemaa is a bit heavier but definetly stiffer. Aluula is more gentle - stiffer than dacron - but not sure if as long lasting.
