I see the v2 dynamo is out. Anyone try these and have any comparions against some more main stream brands?
I’m interested as well. I love the idea of stronger materials too. Does anyone know if they last significantly longer?
I tried the v1 and am demoing the v2 this spring when they come available (easy to do in the gorge if you are around). Nice wings. I’ve been told sizing is adjusted a little bit on the v2 and there’s been some tuning and refining, not a shocking change, it sounds like if you liked the v1, the v2 is just better.
Not sure if anyone is doing any long term testing on the dyneema canopies that is sharing it publicly? I’m doing it on aluula at the moment with the AA’s. I’ve got 1200 miles on my 3m with no change to the low end and no sign of bagging or frame change. This includes a bunch of canopy strikes by foils that were not able to cut the aluula. Dyneema is also supposed to be extremely durable and cut resistant but I haven’t heard any first hand reports about longevity and/or repairs. The Dynamo v1 was a little heavier than the AA’s by 200-300g per comparable size. The Dynamo v1 or v2 has a much lower price tag than the AA wings do.
You can see the comparative size chart here, along with more in depth comments on wing selection.
I have a 4.3 and 5.3. Both V2. I’m not the best winger, but I can say I love them so far. So much lighter than anything else I’ve used. Super well behaved. Not as much low end as other similar sized wings.
“Dyneema is supposed to be extremely durable and cut resistant”
I have a wing with a dyneema leading edge. Love it so much. That being said my second time using it I lightly scraped the LE with my stab and the thing tore. Tearing did not grow / the LE did not blow up. But was still a bummer how easily it cut. Not sure if this was just an extra sharp part of my stabilizer.
I wonder if dyneema is more cut resistant as a canopy? Idk
That’s a bummer, how did the repair go? I think leading edges, especially high psi ones will probably always be weaker than canopies. Stabs also seem to be the common culprit.
Yeah that’s a good point about high psi being more delicate. Makes sense.
Repair has held for basically a whole season so I have confidence in it and am just so happy it works good as new
The two main differences between V1 and V2 are the following :
The two main differences I’ve noticed between V1 and V2 are the following
- V2 is built stronger than V1 and feels more durable than V1.
- V2 has better low end than V1 with the tradeoff of having slightly higher front handle pressure.
