I’ve been eyeballing this thread of course. I want one, (78 to equate to about 80-82). I just need more time. Economy is hitting hard in a bad way. We’ll see how things go early next year.
78 is a 75 when considering wetted surface.
So maybe you need the 84 if you look for something around 80.
Oh right, it’s 75 plus like 3 inches to the bottom of the fuse? That’s actually better than 80+. I want it for prone, and if I can go slightly longer than my Code 75, but shorter than an Axis 82, that’s would be better. Otherwise I’ll be scraping all over the place. Basically, I want the size of a Code 80 (board to bottom of mast foot. The closest would be the 78 I think.
I have two DW wings ready to go now and should be on the website very soon.
I also just signed off on a bigger wing for a bit of dock starting and really easy to learn wing for some DW so when I get a chance this will go online as well.
Those are the ones ready now but have a few more last protos arriving later this week so if all goes as expected I will be able to add at least 2 more new wings to the ones ready to go.
Here is a little pic of the DW wing I use quote alot which is ready to go. This the the 775 Area X 106 span X 14.6AR and have the big brother 1080 area X 1223span X 15AR really fun wings with good glide.
Trying to get more sorted but small team of myself and Angie and running two companies only gives me so much time haha

Ok, so obviously i haven’t been paying attention, but is ONE Ocean using Axis intellectual property? How did you get their approval for that?

Is the CODE connection system proprietary? What about Armstrong (would Armie be cool with it?)? In fact I do recall Adrian speaking on a podcast recently about another company copying their fittings and system. Perhaps it was One Ocean he was speaking about.
That’s another cool option for people looking to get 3rd party fuselages. Crazy with the DIY cut to length fuselage. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else do that?
These boutique brands wont harm axis. Aliexpress is something else because of the scale and potential lower quality issues. in fact, there are axis masts and wings in circulation and sold as original.
I heard that too. He was pretty salty about it, and I assumed it was One-Ocean. It sounded pretty misplaced to me.
If Cedrus makes a universal mast with an axis fitting, the glass half empty version is that it steals the sale of a single mast. But the glass half full version is that Axis just sold another foil/fuse/tail they might not have sold. Same with the one-ocean mast in my opinion.
I think it’s the Ali Express thing which is bad. I’ve heard more conversations than the podcast touching on that issue.
The Axis head has been used for a long time for people wanting adapter options. I know people with the One Ocean mast that never would have bought Axis foils without that mast. But they did, because it was inherently compatible. Opportunistic purchasing. So, Axis is still profiting off it.

That would be us taking a generous view of theft. Whether you or I see it as opportunity or loss is not very relevant right?. It was another company’s work and they get to see it how they see it.
Is there a current active patent for axis connection system? couldnt find one.
With all of us being third parties, not knowing any of the licensing and/or patents behind these designs, I don’t think it’s appropriate to be labeling anything as theft, insinuating anything of the nature, or spreading rumors.
If you really need to know, a private email with Axis and/or One Ocean is way more appropriate than spreading rumors based on:

The context of theft/stealing was what I responded to (the glass half full half empty analogy). ONE Ocean are on this thread - i’m sure he’ll clarify the arrangement he has with AXIS. I’m not a stakeholder - was just interested in how brands like ONE, Cedrus, Konrad interact with the brands they’re compatible with.
Ketos also sells a mast with an Axis foot.
To me this is more like aftermarket auto parts vs. OEM versions, it’s not theft it’s compatibility.
Especially with something as straightforward as a simple mast to fuse socket. Now something like Slingshot Onelock that’s a bit different (but that one is actually patented anyway).
There are other brands that sell entire foil kits ready to ride that are copies of Axis font and tail wings, that to me is theft. The funny thing is those brands use a slightly different mast to fuse connection and a slightly different front wing to fuse connection than Axis so they aren’t actually even compatible!
EDIT: Also I can say that One Ocean kept me riding Axis for longer than I would have otherwise. I might still go back to an Axis setup but that would be with a Cedrus mast (@Jordan_slides do you consider Cedrus theft?)

Maguire foils also makes foils to fit axis black fuse.
If you’re using someone else’s design, and haven’t got permission for it, then yes. This isn’t profound, and not really a matter for opinion. It is what it is. But as @wouzel correctly points out, I don’t know what ONE, Cedrus, Konrad et al have arranged with Axis. This was a fair correction which I accept. Jacko can speak to ONE at least.
Which brand first thought of putting two finboxes for a plate mount foil mast? Did they get wronged when everyone adopted that idea? Are all the other manufacturers who copied the chinook and futures track boxes guilty of theft as well? When is a design proprietary versus an open standard?
