Opinions / Feedback on KOOKLab Cap “Helmet"

I recently discovered the Kooklab cap, which is suppose to serve as impact protection too (https://thekooklab.com). Before buying one, I’d like to have some feedback, if anyone has by chance already tried them?

Nice find! I’m ordering one.

I had the Australian one sold by PKS, but it doesn’t fit my fat head:

I don’t see any detail on their site, but it looks like more of a fashion item than actual concussion protection…

There’s a good roundup at https://projectsurfhelmet.com/

My observation stands. This looks like someone put a lot of branding around the Amazon bump caps. This one has two layers of foam so likely 2x as effective for 1/10th of the price: Amazon.com

The issue with all these caps, is no protection at the back of the head. Don’t know about you, but I don’t have eyes in the back of my head. It’s the place I’m most likely to get hit.

I’m sure it is better than an old cap with the Amazon bump cap insert. In fact, it looks really well thought out. I must admit I have serious sticker shock though.

I’ve been eying these:

But they seem like they would have too much surface area where a water impact at speed could be injurious.

Also $$$

I have one of these. It may be the Amazon bump cap as far as I know, but its served me well.

Yeah thanks to that site I found the Gamebreaker Pro and it’s the best helmet out there. Snug fit, best protection, makes you look like a water polo champion

I know a few guys cut the back of the hat so it fit their heads better. Was too tight at first.

I got one and its a great foil hat ! My FCS hats with the Bump cat inserted work great also but seem to only last just over 1 year so we will see how the new KOOKlab one holds up. It comes with a spf black drape that you can attach and reattach that seems amazing for those hot summer days.

If you email them and ask for a discount code they should be able to provide makes it much more easy to stomach, the price point was a bit high without it

Tempted between getting one of the new Oakley helmets or one of these. Low pro is best.

these are $30 from decathlon it’s great, seems pretty low profile, good impact foam and good price. Only issue is the gap at the back, but not as bad as the bump caps above

And you can put a Ocean Earth XL hat over it. I have had an Ocean Earth hat for ages and they are good quality. I’m going to do this for the summer

As someone who has great insurance(US Based) my trip to the emergency room for staples in my head definitely cost more than the most expensive helmet on the market. Just something to think about when you consider cost as a factor for helmets.
