Stick to the ocean, the sound side is way to shallow to foil in most spots - Prone can be good. Dory road by the shipwreck is a decent prone spot. I also got a fun prone session in at Frisco (this can be a good escape if the swell is too big / messy).
I did a sup DW from Rodanthe to avon this spring, on the right wind its pretty fun, but parawing would open up a lot more days.
