Ressources to learn prone foiling and surviving in heavy conditions?

Time to put the foil away and surf the old school way with a normal surfboard.

There might be a difference if you compare it in a lab, but I can tell you from experience that it doesn’t really matter as a surfer. There’s a way bigger difference on the density of the water after or during rain, and an even bigger one with rivermouths for example. I’ve had some nasty hold downs on rivermouths where the water is usually nowhere as salty (dense) as in open ocean.

As far as the ride on foil, I can’t say anything about it with personal evidence because I’ve only foiled in one ocean (North Atlantic) but I guess there are other factors that will contribute way much more.

Ok, not surprising.

The one that’s easy to feel is water temperature (influencing viscosity).
Pumping in a lake below 10 really feels like the hand brake is on.

HM mast and bigger foil. Its not popular, but this is my key for navigating the turbulence. You’ll likely be pumping out and sending it through rolling white water to try and glide through all the down wash behind the waves to make it out the back. Round up on your leash length, the full speed flyouts are terrifying.

FoilDrive would allow to enter quickly and to ride the shoulder of the wave
