Sabfoil sea devil, thoughts?

Thanks for the info. I am a beginner living near v light wind and am wondering whether the 1240 (I weigh 90kg) could be a great starter foil. I’m not really sure what the downside of having truly epic amounts of lift would be?
Surely, combining it with a decent sized wing you could make almost any conditions rideable? And it is turnier than a pump foil even at that size? And then it still has scope for using without a tail when you progress and want it to be turnier.
Or have I just bought the whole marketing schpiel?
Cheers!

Not entirely sure. I only have the two smaller sizes, and haven’t been able to demo these to slightly stronger built (heavier) people yet. It does behave very different compared to the big pump-foil type foils, which, at least in the sabfoil’s case, have this explosive lift at very very slow speeds already (making the big pump foils rather difficult to use for winging for the beginners). The lift of the sea devil is smooth and gradual. In super light conditions you do need some power from the wing to get going. But once up it’s a very easy foil to ride high on the mast.

I’d say the sea devil offers a totally different and refreshing feel and riding sensations, but that said, I am sure there are plenty of people who already have the skills (who would easily get a smaller sized and more conventional foil going as well) and would consider it as not interesting. Depending on their mindset, and on their local conditions.

What I can suggest is to visit a shop / demo center, and try it yourself. Come to our lake for example : )

Some more SD 840 action, without the tail. (most parts of the first clip, except a couple of jumps, and the first half of the second clip are with the sea devil).
