Trash-Bags (Parawing Lounge)

Most interesting thing about the Ozone wing is the spliced bridles. I can tell you that standard bridles don’t feel very nice on your hands when stowing. It has potential to be a pretty big QoL upgrade.

Yes, the spliced lines are huge. I just realized that the BRM lines were the reason for two shredded pairs of gloves this season.

Absolutely loved my peak 4s, this is the one I have been looking forward to the most. Do I spy a pulley on the bar? My Flow 3m order was just delayed 3 weeks after a month of waiting maybe I just wait a little longer for a 3m…I do live in Florida after all.

Side note had a couple of really fun dw runs in light sea breeze 10-13mph conditions this week with my 5m BRM. I had some doubts that I would be able to Parawing this summer but no longer. I was using my dw board but I think a neutral vol narrow mid would work just as well.

A bigger foil is essential as you need to grave dig/pump the foil up, I use my Uni p200. I was consistently able to start no problem in these conditions.

Technique is a little different than when powered. You need to point downwind enough to align with the bumps, back stall the kite a little and just allow the speed to gradually build, once moving at a steady pace you can start your board pump up. The BRM doesn’t like to be pumped but you can leverage the gusts with a quick pw pump too.

Oh and this doesn’t look like it’s a Peak conversion kit, looks like its own thing right?

Yes it is a new product. They will not be offering conversion kits according to Armin Harich from Flysurfer. Hope it is no too expensive.

What would the purpose of a pulley be?

on foil kites pulleys are used to allow more of a change in Angle of Attack for a given amount of bar trim. Could allow greater depower range. But honestly for PW its just one more thing to tangle the lines on so I am not sure its worth it. I think 777 uses a Pulley. You probably really need one for the double skins.

The Naish Morph also has a pulley, but I agree just another tangle point. Here is a diag of how it works.

More tease

that shape looks solid in wind

Man I hate flysurfer’s marketing department. Those stupid ads with all the story and whatever and all the shots of the gear are like 2 second clips and not showing me the scenarios I want to see or giving me any idea of what the gear is going to ride like.

I wish manufacturers made finding specs easier. We know any canopy on wings 4mts and above that are made out of heavier ripstop that 32g are difficult to stow and even a 4mtr in that weight is borderline.

BRM are the pack leader still, a dream to pack away though Five-0 seem an option if available. Other manufacturers seem to be missing the point, and Gong at 54g is a joke.

Naish 32g

Duotone 30g

Flow 32g

BRM ?

Gong 54g

North 40g

Ensis ?

Windmaster 35g

Five-O 21g

Ozone ?

Ahhhhhh. I so want to pull the trigger and make para-wing my project this summer- but it’s such an awkward time to do it with so many new versions on the cusp and v2s on the way. My rec budget can’t afford a buy-rebuy and I want to get something that I can keep a while, that maximizes my chance at success

Just go for a big gong or flow! If you are dw’ing- the finer points wont matter- but if you need a wing that people are actually posting tracks on today- its the flow.

Agree on the general sentiment to just get one, stop waiting for the new best one to come to market….but here is a better view of the Flysurfer POW. It’s looking good, curious how much of a tangle risk the pulley adds though. Would be worth it if it’s more stable with increased depower range.

More details, not available till late May. Introductory price looks reasonable

Remember that’s in NZD. $485 USD. Which is actually kind of insane…

Oh man, I used AUD, that’s awesome! Way to go Flysurfer.

Considering canceling my delayed Flow Order for either the north or Ozone pws but I am just not very patient and late May sounds to long to wait. Especially since April and May are good wind months here and summer..not so much.

Super excited about the FW parawing but that size range sucks!

Sizes: 1.7 / 2.5 / 4.0

I’d love to get a 3.5m and a 5m to fill in my quiver of D-Wings (4.2m and 3m), yet these sizes don’t line up with that dream.

Also while I can pump up my 4.2m D-Wing in 11 knots (can’t go upwind very well in that little wind though) I find my 3m needs at least 18 knots which is a far bigger gap than I’d like.

So unless Flysurfer has done some magic and these things are way more powerful than D-Wings are these sizes are going to be like
1.7m: 25-60
2.5m: 20-40
4.0m: 14-22

Hopefully they add in 3.0 / 3.5 / 4.5 / 5.0 soon after launch.
