Trash-Bags (Parawing Lounge)

If price isn’t an issue then the Frigate is definitely the most user friendly offering and it might save you some pain if you don’t have experience flying single skin kites. Not cheap though.

I think a 4-4.5 ish size is what you want. It will cover a lot of that wind range without being annoyingly large. You will need to set expectations at the low end - at the start, sub 15 knots is going to be a struggle even with a DW board. I have the Pocket Rocket and it works well for me. Ive only tried the Naish and BRM v1, and I think the PR is materially better than both of them, but thats not exactly a like-for-like comparison.

I can use a 4m maliko v1 in 16/17 on a DW board up to 35/40 with a -35 sinker. DW only when overpowered…

I love Kai’s assessment at the end where he says its an unrefined product. The way he jammed it into the pouch made me cringe. He basically said redeploy was a crapshoot and I can see why. It shows him surfing some very large waves with it, but I would like to see how he got out in those waves. Also how he stayed upwind. Guy is such a beast. He’s just goofing around in conditions that would be terrifying for 99% of the population.

One of the drops he took while trying to pack the PW was nuts.

anyone ridden the 5.6m UDW yet?
That blend of low end & ease of dousing looks great as a daily driver 10 to 20 knots….

@cloudland here’s a vid on my leash sleeve to keep the coils clear of my lines. Zero tangles since I started using it and I’ve badly abused my line management to test it:

Just reverse the urethane part of the leash, that puts the coils on the board, not up where the parawing lines can be caught.

Parawing lines always find a way . Easier for me to just cover the coils and never think about it again.

I am really happy with my Manera elastic board leash. Good and simple solution. Friends don’t let friends mix coils and parawings :winking_face_with_tongue:

Agree on the manera. I eventually came to dislike the cuff, so I got a Kahohi Inviz leash, removed the coil section, and connected to the cuff from my favorite straight leash (used one from a Veia leash). Works perfectly!

I got the Kahohi too, reversed to so the coil is on the board, works great, never hat the para tangle in the coil.

Hey everyone,

I’m checking if there’s any interest here in the community.

I’ve been working in the watersports industry for many years, involved in board and wing development for well-known brands in the market. Together with a few talented friends — and with strong connections to a leading sail-making factory in China — we recently developed a high-performance wing.

This small production run was originally made for the local scene in Israel. Most shops here still don’t import gear for this new sport, so we decided to produce our own batch to support the riders.

I’m selling these wings with minimal profit, mainly to help the community and make the sport more accessible.

I have around 20 units left, in 4m and 5m.

About the wing:

  • carbon boom

  • ultra-light fabric that doesn’t absorb water

  • short bridles

  • excellent for downwind riding
It also comes with a simple bag and clean, local-brand graphics.
The cost stays low because we don’t waste money on unnecessary extras.

Price is around €400–450 before shipping, and I can reduce the price for multiple units.

(Shipping not included.)

If there’s interest, I’m happy to share more details, specs, and photos.

So far, the riders at my local beach are really stoked on this wing.

How’s the upwind? Any video in action?

Havn’t use it much for real downwinds yet ,

Mainly just going offshore in reaching before fold it and going pure downwind

Will try to get some water shoots is wanted

I tested this, and I tested reversing the leash as others have described (kaohi mini invis).

Reversing the leash was the better solution for me. Was really surprised how impossible it made it to actually get a tangle in the coils in any normal solution. I’m pretty tall so naturally there’s more clearance for a stow but I would recommend anyone try to reverse their coil leash before spending money on a cover or a new leash. It works really well.

Just borrowed a Frigate last week and in comparison with my Ranger it was so much easier to use.

It just keeps flying with the back lines completely slack. This makes flying it as far forward as it can in the wind window ( to get to the max upwind angle) require no special skill or finesse.

With the Ranger if you don’t keep enough pressure on the back lines the leading edge will collapse and the wing will fall back in the window, then power back up and pull you down wind. This makes riding upwind a balancing act on bar pressure that’s difficult to perform and especially difficult in gusty conditions.

And the same dynamics apply when overpowered, just climbing onto the board is a challenge if you need to manage bar pressure to prevent the wing from falling into the power zone.

It’s definitely focused my thoughts on evaluating a parawing, if it doesn’t fly on the front lines alone it’s a huge ease of use hit it needs to pay for. A slightly easier pack down doesn’t cut it.
