Is there any feedback about frigate vs PT skin?

Anyone got to try the new f-one quest yet?

Nop, but I have a 3 and a 4,5 m coming in. Supposed to be here late-April/early May. I can report back then. After seeing the video of the guy riding it it the Canaries, It look so solid and the bar look clean without B line.

I might be talking thru my ass but the Quest is probably somewhere in between the PocketRocket v2 and the PowerPack in term of performance.

I initialy wanted to wait for the PR v2 but there is no leaked footage/review yet and my brain can’t afford to wait any longer !

Just on the beach. It seemed nice, but hard give any real feedback

The more I play with the PowerPack the more I’m starting to like it. Upwind angle isn’t an issue - it performs really well, it’s just not as comfortable in the gusts (you really have to be on your toes (heels?)).

The main negative I’ve noticed is that tacks are much harder to come out of - but I might just need to adjust technique. Far outweighed by ease of packdown though. Waves are really fun now. Our main wave spot has a fairly quick impact zone - the waves aren’t endless rolling faces so you have to be quick. Previously I thought it wouldn’t be suited to parawings given the time required to pack down & then redeploy, but I’ve had no issues on pulling in the powerpack, getting a few turns in, then redeploying - even the 4.3 & 5m sizes.

I think our quiver will be Pocket Rockets up to 3m, then PowerPacks in the larger sizes.

I have no experience with the Quest or the Frigate 2 but I can say what I love about my Frigate 1 is that the more wind you throw at it the better upwind angle you get. Yesterday I was out in a very gusty 25g30+ on my 4.7m Frigate and I was hitting 35° upwind angles. If the wind wasn’t so gusty I’d be getting 40°. I went in and changed to my 2.5m POW and only managing 30° upwind angles in the exact same conditions.

If the Quest does not behave the same I think I’d rather stick with the Frigate, especially as I don’t do short redeploys.

2.5 pow upwind also depends on wind speed and BC placement on the bar

Hey Gonefoiling–can you elaborate on your use of changing BC location on bar with your 2.5 POW? I have the same wing and haven’t messed with that adjustment much. Thanks!

If you move the BC location forward, you increase the camber of the profile, and if you move it backwards, it’d flatten the profile.

Quest is being released this week with deliveries at the end of the month.

Yeah I much prefer the pow with the center connection moved back, flies much better upwind. Maybe less grunt getting up but I feel it pumps similar to the PR

ye, 15cm from A line connection is the og default spot.

up the bar –> more grunt (i.e., less flat profile)

down the bar –> more upwind (i.e. flatter profile)

Yet there is still a “zone” where adjustments have to occur

Had a great opportunity to adjust BC in overpowered conditions today, with the 2.5. definitely works!

Would it make sense to modify the line connection once up on foil? If just by tweaking something one can go from "low end” to “high end” responsiveness, it would solve a lot of issues.

It could be as simple as tying an easy to untie knot on the lines to have the “grunty” version, and then untie it to go back to the upwind position. Or am I simplifying too much?

You can adjust BC position while on foil with the POW. not hard.

Has anyone been able to try out the 777 Hybrid? Thinking about getting a 2.5 to compliment a PT skin 4.
