Trash-Bags (Parawing Lounge)

He shows the various ways to hold the new bar/handle here! Looks like the method of putting your hand through handle gives you similar control for one handed flying, whereas holding the handle is a stable de-powered position for water-start and getting setup. (I have not flown this or any BRM for that matter)

Looks easy enough to fly one handed:

Good god, look at how the wing doesn’t fly down in the wind window when sheeting in. His bar is almost vertical. It just sort of sheets in but doesn’t move back. That will be epic when the PW is on an angle and getting going.

This will definitely make gybing a bit different.

The design is very interesting. It looks like the trailing edge of the canopy has a “lip” that curls down to capture more of the wind energy, thus increasing the low end. And yet the remaining 90% of the canopy pulls the parawing forward enough that the lip won’t yank your arm off in a gust. The result appears to be that you’ll get the low end of surf designed parawing (PowerPack, Quest, UDW) while maintaining much of the high end capacity (Hybrid, Paia).

I’ll reserve judgement to see what the public thinks but this looks like a potentially big leap forward in parawing designs. It will be interesting to see what is lost/gained by swapping the D-handle for a regular bar. I suspect most of the gains here are in the bridle/canopy design changes, despite the handle being the most eye catching one.

It says alot that they are discontinuing all previous models (at 1/2 price). I don’t believe that greg would make a handle that couldn’t be flown one handed from every possible position. I always fantasized about lei wings having a tuning flap like these. Now, do I wait for reviews or just send it??? Hope it doesn’t go the way of the Paia.

Obvious question that comes to mind with this handle having the front line connections 20cm apart either side of the D, is how to pull those A lines to collapse it? I’d have expected to see that on a video.

And while I understand that problem of having too much angle on the bar when sheeting out too far, and becoming a limit for your wrists, this could have been addressed by a curved bar, like on the POW, or with a mini trim system that adds or removes a bit of differential between the A’s and the other line sets to get back to a bar that is less angled and back to being comfortable to hold in that position. On PWs with a yoke or on the Quest with only 2 bridle sets connected to the bar, surely you can add a trim like this to angle the bar the way you want and adjust on the fly for more depower or more responsive steering while in the sweet spot of your wrist range of motion.

My guess is that the two front connections spaced apart like that adds to the stability of the leading edge. May also help with steering control since the rear connection points is now at an angle to each of the front connection points (If viewed from above the bar/line connection points would be a triangle).

As for pulling it in, there seems to be a connector line about 10-20 cm above the front handle, similar to what’s on the Frigate. My guess is that pulling on that would instantly depower the parawing and then while holding it to the front handle with a finger, you could just gather up all the lines from the rear? Just a guess.

Is BRM moving to a single model for 2026, or are they just not launching the other new models at the same time?

Greg at the end of one of the videos says “spoiler alert - only one parawing”

Said - does everything better than ea. wings specialty- canopy material, lines are lighter- stow is improved, bottom end is MUCH improved, up wind angle, comfort improved to hybrid levels. Also looks that although he highly recommends the new D handle- there is a special order bar option available for the S3, so you can order that way or retro-fit. It looks like some really interesting improvements, not just tiny incremental ones. Hope this makes current gen parawings go for cheaper on the used market!

The section where he flew it backwards or whatever was interesting. Seems pretty novel in the way it handles

First-ever Downwind Parawing World Cup :call_me_hand::united_states::united_states:

Flysurfer POW v2 prototype in there. looks to have no pulley system and different attachment system to the trailing edge?

unsurprisingly, the pocket rocket v2 has shorter lines

The lines are also significantly shorter than previous years. One common complaint about the V1, even for a rider at 6’3", was that pulling in a 4.3m took nearly your full arm length. On the V2 4.3m, you’re nowhere near full arm length, so the wing should be easily swipable for almost any wingspan

also to note the absolute media onslaught of all these things haha holy shit I think we must have reached peak parawing I can’t imagine what the used market is going to look like by the end of the summer

I think thats a Frigate v2 in front of it - which seems to have the same 2-point bar configuration as the Quest, although bridle system looks a little different.

From what I’ve heard the Frigate v2 will have the same bar, 2 line system and pack assist as the Quest.

Not sure if that’s showing off anything unique to the S3, or just Greg’s impressive parawing skills.

You can fly most parawings upside down! Just gotta practice. To learn, grab the front lines with one hand, and the rear lines with your other hand. Then just spin the bar like you’re turning a steering wheel, and pull on the back lines to keep it flying. It’s fun for goofing around.

Got my brand spanking new BRM S3 4.2m and had the chance to flew it on land to compared it to my Maliko v1 4m and Quest 3m.

The goods :

  • I felt that I could really pump the wing and generate some power. It feel way more solid and is more resistant to backstalling then both my other parawing. It do not have the tendancy to rush to the edge of the wind windows and loose its power.
  • The D-shovel handle is super intuitive. I kinda like it more then I tought I was going to be. Plus, I can use it with my large 7mm Xcel mitts. No worries.
  • The canopy is super light.
  • Aspect ratio and line length are about the same as the Maliko v1.

The bad :

  • I would have love to have a distinct colored leading edge. The small black line is not enough for me. Its not a deal breaker but a define leading edge help me when I’m doing the 4 A stowing method and I have to collect all the batten. It also usefull when you redeploy and open the parawing before releasing it.

The bottom line is i’m super stoked on this parawing and I can’t wait to try it!
