I’ve wondered for a year what Slingshot was thinking bringing on the world’s best downwind foiler and by far the top pick to win everything this year. Its a huge risk - sure, if he wins again it will be huge for them. But the downside risk is huge - if he even has a slightly bad finish, like say 5th place, they look terrible. Everyone will assume it is only because of his gear.
The only logical solution is that he will be riding whatever equipment gives him the best chance of winning and keep it unbranded and under wraps. Throw it in the water from the boat and hoist it immediately back in the boat at the end. It would be impossible for anyone to know what he’s riding.
To answer your question, I was recently on island and saw what everyone was riding getting ready for the races. They could still have changed between training and races, but I doubt it.
Chase is a line within patrik, more specifically pretty sure Chase is everything non windsurfing within patrik. He’s riding “his” gear because he works at patrik and leads r&d for the chase products.
So it seems like Slingshot have purchased F4 Hammerhead for their riders. If I were Slingshot, knowing this is what is generally understood, I’d wanna clear that up because it is very poor signalling. And if I were F4 I’d be wanting people to know we’re making equipment fast enough for the best to want to ride. This is an interesting side story.
And for those still hanging in there with my Edberg Paint Job joke here’s a photo of the Swedish Master wielding his 85 6.0 painted in the 95 6.1 Classic colours. At least it was the same brand and model, albeit an older generation.
Pretty sure we’re all aware of slingshots development of a new race wing. We are also in the power rankings thread and reporting on what the coconut WhatsApp is saying.
Edo said in a podcast that there was only time for around two molds before race season. That’s a lot of pressure to get the winner on try #2. If he was smart, he would have put a rider on his contract allowing for this very situation.
We are amazed that some of the very best riders selected F4 - SR Tuttle Mast, Hammerhead 510 with the 100 rear stabilizer for the upcoming series. Congrats to the downwind community, organizers and riders…super challenging race for sure.
Nope he’s on the project drag mast, the boards are available for pre order now, the mast will be released very soon, Tuttle and plate connection..Project Drag Board – Slingshot Sports Project Drag Board – Slingshot Sports
Will all be Slingshot wings as nothing else will fit the One - Lock connection. I would imagine Trent and Edo would have foils that built for racing only.
A few things to unpack here. We’ve got fellow competitors saying “Edo definitely riding F4 wings, not Slingshot”, but now i’m most intrigued about this electrical contracting company from Southern Queensland doing a spot of prospecting amongst the Power Rankings nonsense.
Matt it’s going to take more than a support race shakedown to rattle me from my convictions about the main prize. But I’d love to see everyone else’s picks. Maybe Top 5’s to keep it simple?
