2026 Surf foils

I think that’s a fair point. But I guess what I’m getting at is when Dylan said he couldn’t see himself down winding the whippet (which also happens to be the lowest ar so that makes sense ) that basically crosses it off the list for me. At least where I live we have downwind days where you would totally PW the exact same foil/size as you would prone, so it’s a big plus to have that speed and glide in a rollable friendly package.

Whippet looks fun to kite foil and probably fun behind the boat.

Seems like code x is getting plenty of pw / downwind use in the same sizes someone would prone .

FoilMad, have you ridden the F4 Manta and Flux, or got that opinion from the video reviews?

I’m looking forward to the F-One Sk8 V3 and Axis Surge reviews.

I recently bought the Axis Surge 890 (835 sqcm) and it pumps great with the Crazy Short fuse and Skinny Tail. I can get doubles and triples regularly with the Surge while prone foiling. But when I tried it tow foiling, it was too pitch unstable at the higher speeds and it was tiring just getting towed around. When I used a longer fuse and bigger tail for stability, it was a lot harder to pump, but getting towed around was almost effortless.

I’ve towed with the F-One SK8 650 and 750 (V1). Carving the 650 was like carving a shortboard. But I couldn’t pump the 650 or 750 well enough to get a double dip. I thought the Lift 120HA (775sqcm) pumps a lot better than the SK8’s.

Now that Dylan picked up the SK8 and Surge, he might help me decide whether I get a smaller Surge or a SK8 V3 for tow foiling.

Firstly I am no Adam Bennetts as I am old but I have been proning since 2017.

I just got out of a session on the manta 635. (4th session) It has better pump for me than my old fone eagle 790 and turns like the 650 SK8 or maybe even better and that is with a DW tail. Surf tail to come!

I got to watch Adam develop the flux 707 over a few years and watched many of our Aussie crew ride it in person. It pumps amazing for its size also with heavy friends pumping and ripping on that foil. Its possible it is still in a class of its own almost.

I try not to weigh in on these discussions but foils are very expensive and there so much contradictory information out there. In the same aspect, if you can pump brand A at 700 sqcm and brand B you need 835 sqcm to pump with the same success, then it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out which one will likely turn better.

The ultimate surf foil is one that is the smallest your skills allow you to surf at your best but still pumps for multiple connections. In the past most of us were always a little overfoiled to get the pump and so our performance was compromised.

a key question is how these foils handle foam bashes. Engage attack mode

I always find it a blessing that I can’t really pump for shit and can’t be assed with linking waves. It just means I can ride the smallest foil I want and not worry about tradeoffs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Are you ready or able to comment on Flux vs Manta?

Although I have had plenty of opportunities I haven’t ridden the Flux. I couldn’t afford the perception adjustment having separate brands for both PW and Prone.

My experience with the flux is just watching what my friends experienced trying Adam’s setup.

Is the lift “vario” a new foil? 120 Vario Beta Front Wing – Lift Foils

9.6 AR - 120in2 area

I’m perplexed

Or is it some efoil specific thing

Ooooooooo. That looks SOLID. I feel like the original 120 dims were fantastic and a lot of us liked it so much we didn’t want to go up or down in size just to stay current - I never really considered the 110 or 130 viable alternatives. I like the specs on this though!

 can anyone confirm if it’s actually new? I feel like it might just be some old idea that never got removed from their site…

There’s a random 150 out there too:

I’ve ridden the flux. It feels like something in between a silk and a code s. Glide and turning is basically in the middle. Pump is has a very nice low end, but it’s not efficient to pump. Stiff setup despite not unibody. It’s probably good for smaller waves where you want something HA as flux feels more HA then MA. The silk on the other hand has absolutely zero pump but I like it for turning especially on larger waves

I can not confirm it’s not recycled ideas but I can confirm that I saw the protos in Puerto Rico this winter. Which makes me believe they are indeed new.

Just picked up an Axis Surge 950 and had a go winging yesterday. Big day on our local lake 3.5 m hand wing with belly high swell. 20-40+mph wind. I was going upwind then flagged out and just surfing downwind. I was afraid this would be too much foil for the day at 950cm but it wasn’t. I am 190lbs with wet rubber. This foil is very well behaved. Pitch control is super smooth and forgiving. Speed range is huge. The stall speed is very slow. The top end is crazy fast for a wing of this size. Like a lot of other reviews of the Surge say, its just does everything better than its predecessors. I still see a place for my Fireball 1000 as a high speed rhino chaser. The Surge almost has this buoyancy to it that feels like whatever I do it wants to go right back to happily cruising along. This may be related to the slight upturn in tips, like self leveling. I am excited to get this one out with the parawing. It is very easy to dig out of holes with pumping. It seemed happy to surf waves at whatever speed I chose to. This is the versatility that I wanted. Bravo Axis! Stoked!

What do you mean the Silk has zero pump?

“basically zero pump” compared to the R / orca, and even to the S. Sure you can pump it, but honeslty youre not going far in comparison to those other wings.

The silk v2? interesting, i found it to pump better then the Code S to its size. I was able to go far.
For a 9AR you cant compare it to an orca or an R. But to the S, i would say same or better.

He means the Silk v1, specifically the 650 v1.

The Silk 850 v1 pumps fine for it’s size, nothing like the Code 850s as you would expect but it is worlds more fun to surf so a fair trade.

Silk 850 v1 and Code 810x are comparable in pump I found.

That’s hilarious. I literally woke up from a dream that I had seen a new foil from Lift with a “v” name and I googled it and found that link . Now I remember seeing some at their tent at Cocoa beach . U fly them yet at all?

although if it’s small batch it’s not for me, I only use high volume, mass market foil products .

Goes without saying but I’ll say it. If the SK8 and the 120 had a baby , there would probably be some interest. I have a sleight memory of the Varios I saw in Florida having that sk8 mustache that lift has seemed to avoid in the past. So I’m curious to hear when someone can chime in on how they are
