Administrator close the site to many scams
Looks like you might be a scammer since most scammer have their profile hidden like yours.

Why are buy and sell posts mixed in with the normal posts. Can’t they be on their own section

People - for the love of god - stop commenting your interest on for sale posts. It spams everyone’s feed and makes you a target for scammers to DM you impersonating the seller. If you don’t have enough history on this forum to DM then, sorry, wait and participate some until you can DM. DM the seller, face time or video them to see them and the gear, and only use goods and services PayPal (unless your picking it up in person)

In general, if you list something online for sale, you can almost always expect to receive a response from a scammer. Usually they are easy to identify. It can sometimes be comical in how they respond or request to proceed with the transaction. Simple rule of thumb, if it sounds the least bit fishy, it probably is. Whether it’s the lack of proper grammar, their profile, or the way they want to proceed with the transaction it is usually obvious they are not legit.
If people keep complaining, and can not police themselves, here is probably what is going to happen. The forum will just ban any buy or sell transactions. Just too much of a hassle for them. This is exactly with happened with the Ikite classified section. It was a great place to buy and sell gear. I used it many times to mostly sell gear, and did a purchase here and there as well. Really great deals and a great way to sell gear. People kept complaining about scammers, so they eliminated the classified section. No more transactions. Huge loss of a great place to buy and sell gear.
On EVERY listing I posted to sell, I would get a least one scammer, sometimes multiple. It was very easy to identify them and either ignore them, or respond with a cash only pickup deal. They would immediately disappear. I recently sold a foilboard on facebook. Two scammers responded, again, very easy to identify. I ultimately sold it on a meet and exchange transaction.
It really sucks that people exist to just steal from other people. The internet has made scamming so easy. We have to be diligent and police ourselves. If we keep complaining to the Administrators, this site will most likely go the same way as the Ikite classifieds and cease to exist.
I have done at least one buy and sell transaction on this site. Both went very smoothly with no problems.

One possible solution might be to post your gear on Craigslist or FB Marketplace. Then send forum followers to those sites and sell your stuff from there. At least that way, the interactions wouldn’t cause problems here.

What about just closing Buy/Sell Threads to responses and require private messaging?
I think it two fold, people without the proper number of posts can’t private message.
It prevents the thread from bumping.

Close all threads with the exception of mast deflection discussions, and shops creating a new thread for every review video they ever create.

This is a good idea. There is a feature/plugin whatever that would make this possible (someone had the same idea)

I think this is a good idea, but I guess pushes the scams into the DMs, is that better? I’d prefer it as I mute all buy&sell stuff

Buy/Sell does have it’s own category here, it’s the viewers choice to look at all or one particular category. Posting opinions n a B/S thread is considered bad form on all of the photo gear forums I participate in and some have the ability to post turned off altogether.
It’s a sales thread not a discussion 
Admin must just close the buy and sell everyone can later focus on buying locally.

Yes and it’s easy to mute it too which is what I do.
But no doubt there are a shitload of scammers
So making life easier for the people selling on this forum seems worthwhile
this is what I suggested so I’m not sure what your contribution is here?
I agree that the scammers are inevitable, but they’re not too hard to manage. It’d be a shame to lose the buy/sell section

do you know what’s goin on?? The buy and sell needs to be closed to prevent losing the website like ikite because of scams.
Dude, what is wrong with you. Why must admin do anything because you demanded it? I’ve done about 10 transactions thanks to the free buy/ sell in this forum. To the best of my knowledge I have been contacted by 0 scammers. Not saying they don’t exist, but so far it’s not been an issue. Meanwhile on Facebook marketplace I have to be hounded by scammers and just plain crappy people who are bored clicking adds.
The buy sell in this forum works fine. It doesn’t need to be closed. You can choose not to use it. You don’t even have to look at it.
The scammers are usually semi easy to identify, and or self identify because of the scammy requests they make. Unfortunately, some folks fall for their usually easy to identify tricks.
