Advantage of parawing board vs. downwind SUP

I’m 80kg. I’ve been using a 125L DW sup. After many terrible sessions I mostly have the hang of it when the wind is light and bumps are small. In real wind I still tip too fast.

Are the parawing boards easier to balance on? Or is the main attraction that they are smaller?

more fun to ride!

your board may be corky due to (too) high volume

The biggest difference is the long nose of the DW board gets grabbed by the waves and wind and is constantly getting turned downwind. also when you need to make adjustments to the angle of the board a DW board will track too well vs a mid length you can just force in to the correct position.

On top of that you’ll find the PW might tangle more in the nose of a DW board.

Personally I much prefer a ML board.

Less tangling would be one benefit. Doesn’t happen all the time… but the first time your board rides through the bridles lines you’ll appreciate the shorter board. Haha.

Quite often my DW board will go faster than my PW when starting

Just angle more sidewind and you get the line tension needed

Yeah pretty hard with such a long board. It’s pretty tracky
