AFS HA38 tail chop?

Resale on a over year old foil thats funny. Gains are really positive so very happy. Designers are constrained by the company and wanting a particular look and feel. Customising is great fun. Had it out in really solid waves today and it worked really well. Yellow wang below

Ya I think the same.

The improvement on the tails is remarkable. I think subjective is right @SaltyHaole. The feeling I’ve found in the tails is less precise, mushier and slightly too skatey initially. I don’t think that is something a team would likely converge on especially with bulk of testing winging where you are going so fast all the time, but for prone wave-riding and downwind I think it’s a great feeling.

I didn’t chop my Ultra 750 because it was still in decent condition and managed to sell it, but only because I didn’t like it much, and the risk was too high of ruining it.

I’ve also chopped an Axis ART and it turned a shitty turning foil into an absolute mess, so again you’re not wrong that you can ruin a foil, but given the low resale, I think it’s viable if you know what you’re after. I bought a cheap used E900, I like it, but it’s too locked in with the span of an otherwise really nice feeling. The Code 850s is better because it’s looser. But the 900 has the potential, just need to find it. I think older foils like this justify the exploration.

Yes, im all for customization of your own gear and you’re correct the outcome is all subjective but if it makes the gains your after then that’s all that matters. As for me, I’m simple minded. I just ride it the way I bought it and they just ride great to me. If you can afford to chop and customize then go for it.

As stated, outcome is all subjective to the rider. I can borrow the same board and foil from you and hit those same waves and totally hate the way it rides. Some like it loose and skatey, but i prefer locked in and predictable. But you like how your chopped foils go and the gains ia great, I’m just too broke to start chopping shit.
