AWSI 2026 Discussion Thread

Nobody else made this yet right?

Code has boards and hand wings now. I’m very excited to see what FD announces to compete with Riift. Ozone PRv2 X, a lightweight version for the bigger sizes that packs down to the size of a handkerchief.

Generic instagram is great too. Two and a half minute quick run down if you don’t have 50 minutes for the above YouTube.

2 and a half minute quick rundown of AWSI. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DdFc6MhR5uy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&stkn=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

I honestly thought those guys were in their fifties or sixties when I heard their podcast. Seems almost AI hearing their voices & seeing young faces.

Did they not say last year that they want less media and keep it more a meeting space for brands or something like that? The FD guy seemed to say something about “no cameras”

Seems not acted on too strictly which I guess is entertainment for us

From memory I saw FD have a + battery which looks like higher energy density, Cabrinha and Armstrong parawings, Code S v2 and surf stab, Ozone prv2 ultra light X parawing.

“FD no cameras”, totally failed on that point, leaked the upgraded Gen 2 on the first day

them code wings look tasty!

Hollow 3d printed internals, looks cool

Is it all hollow?.

I would tweak this with a foam core and carbon inner structure stance/box area.

Strong and rigid important bits, low weight, light tips.Volume without the inertia.

Armstrong just released their parawing. Looks pretty interesting with a depower line on the bar.

Cool idea, tweaking the leading edge instead of the trailing edge. I wonder how much force is required though to pull that line when you really need to?

must be a “concept board”. 3D printing is not a mass efficient way to make structures like this. It would need to be redesigned for foam and carbon (or possibly honeycomb). The super thin skin over internal skeleton concept is very interesting if it works

Ride Engine might make a Foil Rat prototype stow vest. I’ve gotten used to doing DW runs in a Vaikobi, putting an extra PW in the back pouch, and/or wearing 2 stash belts.

I might be willing to give up the flotation for what looks like a better way to stash as well as carry the backup:

Flotation was not really about needing it each session, it was always in case somehow lost the board and had to do a long swim in.

If you ocean DW on a PW with a PFD - would you give it up to have this stash system? Looks like this vest would keep more water out.. when I fall in I feel like the stash pouch gets heavier esp with the bigger PW

How are you seeing prices?

I like the front stash. I would rather have floatation instead of being able to stash another wing in the back (seems very awkward). I would use a standard waist pouch for backup wing and hook.

Flotation in back probably isn’t a great idea. It would float you face down. I love the idea of this vest and it seems very well thought out. I can’t believe its taken so long. Ride Engine really takes their time releasing products, so I bet we don’t actually see these for a year.

The very blatant knockoff of FAED molle vest is pretty lame in my opinion. Either make it different enough, partner or let the little guys eat.

so everyone buys a rift board

and then they also buy a tuttle or radix board?

Don’t forget about lift X and you have to buy all 3 masts, so you have high mount, kind of high mount and low mount.

Foil Drive severely hurt the tuttle. Riift probably just killed it completely.

Maybe the tuttle will only find its place in the racing scene. For everything else you have a motor so the momentary drag from a plate mast doesn’t matter at all.

My guess is Riift will kill FD next once it’s done burying the tuttle. FD intentionally made something that could be universal but unintentionally proved that people want a high performance use specific product instead. Their greatest asset is the same thing that will make them obsolete.

I’m very anti foil assist but I was also anti EBike until I broke down and got one. The future of foiling is going to look like 20 flies buzzing circles around a turd:slightly_frowning_face:

Foiling was fun when I was the one doing laps around the surfers that were just sitting there watching. Now I’m the loser sitting there watching The Foil drives do laps around me.
