Why not a rift box with a radix slot? Or will cable routing be an issue?
Supposedly they’re working on a tuttle version.

A Tuttle version should be possible with a tube left or right of the Tuttle for the cable routing popping up just behind trailing edge of the mast. Would be super clean.

I really don’t see why anyone needs a tuttle rift. The plate mast drag has got to be a lot less than the pod and cable drag. And the drag from the plate is occurring at a time when all the assist is there anyway. I just don’t see the point honestly

Agree, but some people will have their favourite Tuttle mast/ foil system so there will prob be a market for it.
Another benefit of a Tuttle and assist is that it might open up designs for cable management that doesn’t need tape and can stretch over the Tuttle end.

A tuttle or Radix makes carbon mast construction way easier. The big question is how many foilers are continuously buying the new shiny carbon masts. For a Riift style system its easy to adapt to a tuttle or any baseplate connection really.
Yeah, benefits in that case might not be huge but it’s nice to be able to share mast between your parawing setup and your rift.

With the new high energy density batteries that FD and Manta are going to release, I think all foil drive assist will become more interesting. I have serious doubts about Riift. How much does another battery pack cost? Maybe I am missing something here. The benefit of Riift is the battery placement under the front wing. FD and Manta can do the same. Is the motor better? Warranty? You need a new board! How much is the board? Total investment for the 3P, board and additional battery?

I noticed some of the lower foil components around the fuse or fuse connection are nice and shiny. Not sure I like that trend being a fisherman and using shiny lures for for big fish.

Not exactly. That is for 2 complete units. $13,768 minus one propulsion and remote. Assuming it comes with a charger too. Closer to USD 11,000. And required board, then you are looking at USD 13,000.

It was more a question on what the marginal big money buyer spends their next whack of cash on
- Naish hatch v2 is close to a no brainer (ozone big loser here my read?)
- Tuttle makes a lot of sense if you’re chasing max performance and want to try what’s new
- Riift is super compelling, and looks amazing, in theory solving most of the Foil Drive drag and trench convenience issues.
And Rifft is surely a small tweak to make Tuttle and Radix viable. No doubt the meetings were just had. Foil Drive on the other hand there is zero chance for either? Literally impossible?
The market is lead by the nose of the performance crew (quick lock anyone? Not a chance), and so my point was I wonder on the Track version. If you are buying Riift you have big money, and so you are thinking Tuttle (what is a new mast when you’re spending $12k+++).
Also Rift have said you need it at the front of the box so adjustable tracks is actually pointless in most cases other than beginners. If I was spending money I’d want a Tuttle riift and I’d want a fleet of F4 on some hollow delight
(Hypothetical case here, I’ll buy used hatch v2 in the spring if at all)

It is fun to dream shop with all the perfect combinations of gear setups. in 6 months the perfect combo will be different. but right now:
hollow downwind board with adjustable tuttle (doesn’t exist except in my garage)
hollow parawing board with adjustable tuttle (I think only Ken Adgate made one)
F4 SR tuttle setup (have it)
couple of Piranha foils (too expensive for me right now)
If I was into foil assist, then it would be a tuttle Rift board just so I could use the same foil setups

Why did you finally buy a foil assist? I bought one because the prone spots around here aren’t very good - they only work at the right tide in the right amount of swell and it’s a long drive for me to get to them. I was also told that paddle up on a DW board was the hardest thing to learn and I just wanted to foil, so I got a FD which enabled me to ride bumps out the back. I’ve always thought it was better to eliminate the Foil Drive altogether though. To do that, I need to learn to pump for a minute so I ordered a pump foil board that got lost in shipping. Then I need to learn to paddle up. All this is a long process.
Sorry for the stream of consciousness - just expressing beginner frustrations.

Why even get a Riift? You can wait for the new battery technology coming out in 2-3 months with Foil Drive, use your F4 tuttle mast and get a Voga board that loads the FD from the top with latch. Many board builders will be making a tuttle board with latch for FD. Proven technology, tuttle and no john cut out that is inferior to water flow.
