I was looking at the new Cedrus aluminum mini-pod masts for foil drive. Would the efoil (low pod position) have sufficiently low drag to allow wake thieving on a lake?
When there are no waves or im gased from pumping I like to efoil around, but I have an Axis aluminum with integrated pod at 20cm which leaves very little mast for carving.
Wondeing if an upgrade to the Cedrus integrated in efoil position (of custom position) would still allow unpowered wake thieving and better efoiling.

Also interested - very hard to find reviews or vids in the e-foil position. Seems a perfect pair to a conventional setup to go toot around on when the lake is calm for those of us not on a coast
I normally ride in assist position, but tried the new Armstrong integrated in efoil position. Did my normal ollie up, powered off and immediately face planted, tried it again, same result.
I think it might work if you keep a little bit of power on to overcome the drag of the pod. The pod is a long way down and has a lot of leverage to drag the nose down.

The harder part may be getting one. We’re sold out through July, so if you want to get on the list, it’s only a $20 deposit and really helps us plan production. We’re now balancing 8 different mast models on one production line of robots (forged, clydesdale, and integrated). Apologies in advance of any delays, we’re working really hard to rebuild mast and adapter inventory. Thanks for all the support.
Thanks for everyone’s insights. It sounds like my most likely outcome is (faceplant) not what I want. I don’t have the skill of the guy in the video and even the biggest wakeboats on my lake don’t produce a wave like a calm SoCal session.
Could I ask one more… Do you think there is a mini-pod height that make for a happy medium than my 20cm Axis. A pod deep enough to achieve decent efoil carving on flat days like the video, but high enough so I can get it out of the water unpowered? Say 45cm? I recognize pumping would be tougher than my current setup, but maybe i can find a smaller tail to reduce drag elsewhere.
Clearly no one has offered this height before so I assume with all that testing - there is no such thing as a happy medium and two masts are best
A little late to the party but…..I own both integrated assist and Efoil Cedrus. I love both of them! So my easy answer would be buy both. However, funding this can be a slight issue for some if I had to choose one and wake thieving was my goal I would go assist. It’s not impossible to use the Efoil mast to thief and pump but it’s kinda like using a flat blade screwdriver on a Phillips screw! Maybe get the assist and if you really want the Efoil for cruising on the days there is nothing to catch get a Efoil mast. Now I do really enjoy my Efoil setup on the ocean when it’s flat and that means less than 1 ft. You can kinda play with the wave energy but can’t come off of power completely. Might be able to on bigger but it’s a bit trickier because it might nose down a bit when you come off of power and it’s not the same surfy experience as assist. Again just buy both and your problem is solved!
There is not a happy middle to be honest. But maybe this with two cables. Just came out. It’s not as good as integrated and you won’t have the flex to use different brands of foils but it is cheaper with two cables. You will use a lot of tape it is a pain to tape but it’s an alternative.
