Duotone “Float” Wing

Had been dreaming about a hand wing that would fly high like a kite when you let go allowing you to surf.

Have duotone done it?

If it works on onshore wind/waves this will be killer (and big competition for parawings imo).

Will be interesting to understand the compromises that come with such a neutral design. How specialized will it be? It looks like a very light build, and while its kind of counterintuitive, I have found that some weight on the wing can add luff stability.

I sometimes “walk the dog” and float my wing by the leash while surfing, but it really only works when I’m going directly into the wind (cant’ cut back), and even then, it isn’t uncommon for it to flip or get hung up if its out there for too long. The Ozone Flow does this pretty nicely.

Hopefully it is specialized and the brands have finally identified this opportunity. It could certainly create/retain more DW customers.

I wonder, aside tweaking the wing, if moving the leash to a more powered position is part of the equation ie. converting it to a hybrid leash/line possibly with a depower function.

Agree, we can do this already with some wings in +/- side shore wind. But I am hoping rather for a wing that can fly overhead in DW conditions. Goal would be surf with nothing blocking your vision. Difficult equation to resolve when you’re moving faster than the wind…
