Duotone tech talks and Whizz

Quite good tech talk series from Duotone here. The Whizz looks like a Spitfire with heavy dihedral. Anyone tested these for prone?

Also interested to hear feedback

I’m really curious if anyone has gotten any time on these wings prone. To my knowledge there’s nothing else on the market with full dihedral. I like the concept of that wing dihedral matching the arc of the foil skating around under the rider. Also, it seems like everything else on the market is so similar (anhedral in the center and dihedral tips) it’s nice to see something new!

The real question is - Has duotone (the biggest player in the wing and kite space) finally committed to making a good foil? They seem to have to money for it - would be excellent if they bought in

I got the itch to try something new and I like the look of the new duotone foils, specifically the Whizz and the Glide series.

There are quite a few wing reviews but the only prone riding I’ve seen have been from Duotone riders.

Anybody riding Duotone?

I’ve just picked up some demo gear - 750 Glide 2 .0 & 850/1000 Whiz + the 76cm DLab mast that’s only 13.5mm thick at the base.

Quality looks great, can’t wait to try.

Looks good. Report back on Whiz surfing please

That might be the best connection I’ve seen: AFS style with meat in the fuse, direct to foil, detached rear. Someone on yt said the glide is similar to enduro but with lower low end.

The new Glide looks awesome. Duotone seem to have massively stepped up their foil game. Anyone else noticed the similarity in plan form to the new SailGP foils?

Has anyone on here tried both the Glide 2.0 & the Enduro ?, I’d love to hear your thoughts on these two wings as I have the Glide demo but won’t get a chance to try the Enduro.

I took the Glide2.0 750/76cm UHM slim mast/125 tail/ 60cm fuse for a session yesterday in very poor conditions (would usually use the Code 1130S in these conditions) & was impressed by its performance.
Plenty of lift/glide/pump, especially when high on the mast
Also turns/carves really nicely but I still need to try it in good conditions to make sure it’s not too lifty.

The 60cm fuse is very short compared to the Code medium that I’m familiar with, thinking the 65 will be a better option for me.

Must say after 2 prone sessions on the 750, I’m thinking about getting one but trying to wait for the Flight Lab foils to be released.

Plan to try the Whizz today.

Ride report after 2 prone sessions on the Duotone 750 Glide 2.0, one in tiny shitty conditions (0.5-1ft / onshore / mad outgoing current) & it performed surprisingly well & the other in still pretty bad conditions (2ft+ onshore wind/fast outgoing tide in a bumpy river mouth) & it was really good.
I’m 73kg & 57YO & previously on Code 850/980/1130S gear.

Key attributes for me:

•Great pump & glide.
•Lift on pop up was very controlled, even with the short 60cm fuse it was not very pitch sensitive (measured from front of front wing to trailing edge a tail wing & it was 90mm shorter than Code 980s with Medium fuse / 135R tail).
•Turned as good or better than my old trusty 980 Kujira, (without the crazy front foot pressure) first HA foil I’ve used that can do this.
•Breeches, no problem you hardly even feel it.
•Quality looks very good, UHM Slim mast tapers down to 13.5mm at the bottom, feels super slippery.
• All the covers are well designed & easy to use.

Ticks all the boxes for me at my local spot

Sounds like a new big player (in a relatively small pond) then. Thanks for the detail.

Thanks for the update! Please let us know how the whizz goes. Are you paddling prone or foil drive?

Paddling prone on a 4’6 Amos Nitro, don’t have a Foildrive….again waiting for Flite Lab.

Has been a while but finally got a prone session in on the 850 Whizz - been on 900 & 750 Glides for a few months now.

1st wave impressions was man this thing feels slow compared to the Glide 2.0s but it turns so good it’s hard to put into words. Conditions were 1 - maybe 2ft gutless river mouth waves with a slight run out tide & light onshore wind.

For me foiling feels a bit like snowboarding in the water but the Whizz felt like your top to bottom surfing. It rolls over so effortlessly & tip breeches are unnoticeable, doesn’t seem to pump as efficiently as the Glide 2.0s or Code S series.

Really interesting wing, looks like a bad joke imo but can’t wait to put more time in on one.

Thanks for the update. I am also now riding the glide 2.0’s and love them. The most impressive piece of kit for me is the slim 2.0 dlab 76cm mast…. So good. I predict Duotone will be top 3 brands in the foil space very soon.

Let us know how the next whizz sessions go, at this point I don’t think I would step down to a slower wing as you really get used to and like the speed once you have it.

Sounds kind of like the Unifoil progression vs Evolutions, which I also have a lot of time on. Hard to go back to a progression after the evolution, even though those smaller span slower wings are more rip-able.

Tubercle Kujira also looked like a bad joke but was a game changer.

Thanks for the impressions. Surprised by the thin stiff mast tbh. Will have to check them out.

Exactly, I also had the Kujiras.

Duotone are definitely on to something with the Whizz design, it may of only felt slow due to the conditions.

I love my glide 2.0s but they also feel similar to all the other brands I’ve had in the past, the Whizz is something else entirely.

i was planing to get a regular whizz with alu mast but when i saw the thickness of the alu mast 18.2mm almost like the v2 gong alu mast which was 19mm =( i backed out.

Yeah, you have to get the Skinny 2.0 mast (13.5mm) if considering Duotone imo.

For sure but it’s not interesting anymore price wise.
