DW foil help for light guy with prone experience

Hi guys. Proper foil size for DW 6’6 85L board and 134lbs rider that normally prones a 32L shortboard with 580 foil? Can you give me ideas on what would be good sweet spot one foil that I could use for DW and surf small ground swells too? 880?980?1080??

I’d look for a longer board and I’d say for learning the 1080 or even bigger. Where are you learning, how fast are the bumps?

Learning DW for most is quite difficult, those who have mastered it rarely go down to that short of a board. Unless maybe in hood river.

Hey @elMatti I’m 5’9’’ 150lbs and started downwinding about 3 years ago. Depending in your skill lever and it’s important to be honest with yourself. I started on a 6’9’’x21 sunova right before the kalama revolution. I tried a barracuda once and bought one right away. So majority of my learning was on a 7’8’’X18.5 92 liters. Ideally you wanna be your weight in kg+30 for your volume. Like you’ve probably heard a bunch before. Length helps a lot! As for foil I learned on a lift HAX 150. Loosely translates to a 970. I personally felt it was a good match for my size and the ocean I was in (east coast US and Caribbean Sea). HAs seem to be the best for Downwinding due to their efficiency and glide. Where are you located? And do you have any SUP experience?
